DARTMOUTH — A forum on the three referendum questions of the Nov. 4 ballot will be held at 7 p.m. Oct. 28 at the Southworth Library on Dartmouth Street.
The session will focus on what a yes or no vote would mean to voters. Question 2 proposes to replace criminal penalties for possession of an ounce or less of marijuana with a new system of civil penalties: a $100 fine and drug awareness training for offenders under 18. Whitney Taylor, chair of the Committee for Sensible Marijuana Policy, the sponsoring organization of Question 2, will speak in support of the question, and Bristol County District Attorney C. Samuel Sutter will give the opposing viewpoint. The event will be moderated by UMass Dartmouth political science professor and Finance Committee member Shannon Jenkins and will include time for questions and discussion. Additional information on the ballot questions can be found on the library's Web site, Dartmouth Public Libraries.
