I'm looking for a cheap alternative to the expensive grow light reflectors that people commonly use. While checking out ebay I came across a large selection of the collapsible light reflectors photographers use and I'm wondering if those will work. They're less than $10 & seem to have 5 different "shades" of reflective material. I know that these things are not going to be first grade for a grow light but it would work better than nothing correct? From what I've read using something like a foil bake pan wouldn't be good right?

Consider the advantages of hanging a bulb vertically with no reflector. If you can arrange to catch all 360* radiated light with growth, you can gain efficiency. Also you won't have to buy a reflector. There's a whole lot more 'sweet spot' radially than flat as with conventional side mounting hoods.
