420 Girls Book - About the Author / Photographer - Rob Griffin
While living in Maryland in 1992, I was convicted of a felony Marijuana charge, prohibiting my ability to vote. Determined to find a way out, I began searching for information on the subject. One morning in 1993, I thought to myself; "420 Magazine, a monthly publication covering the lifestyles of the stoner culture."
It quickly evolved into a way to help create Cannabis awareness to the world so that we can stop destroying lives and our planet. Jack Herer has been a large inspiration into what I wanted to do. He has inspired me and millions like me to demand change but, like others I couldn't figure out how I could become a larger than life influence as him. It wasn't until after reading his book "The Emperor Wears No Clothes" for the 420th time it triggered a revelation. "Women are the most precious beings in the universe," I had thought to myself, "Why not use them to carry this message to the world?" Thusly, I decide to start 420Magazine.com to help educate the masses about the benefits of Hemp & Marijuana. I noticed most people only knew of anti-Marijuana propaganda and I knew what I had to do. The year now is 2003 and "Operation Pipe Dreams" lead by the White House and D.E.A. target makers of glass pipes and bongs, claiming children had easy access to order these items online. Most if not all glass retailers were put out of business and almost in an instant the ad revenue dried up, and my website was unable to support itself without some major change. I could not afford to pay the bandwidth for giving away the photos anymore, so I turned 420Girls.com into a pay site and moved to Florida in search of more grass root friendly people to help get my mission off the ground. The year now is 2006 and I decide to pack up everything and head off to California. With little time wasted, I spoke with my doctor and was given a recommendation for medical Marijuana. The recommendation allows me to use Marijuana to help treat the chronic pain I have that is associated with my old sports injuries. It's also been a great help in relieving some other symptoms I have, like; anxiety, depression, migraines, insomnia and A.D.H.D. After my doctor gave me my recommendation I wasted no time and immediately became an ordained minister in The Hawaii Cannabis Ministry. 2007 has started off great, poised on the release of my first coffee table book, and with my websites at their highest member levels ever, I can't help but think that change will come soon. Get off your ass and help us spread the word! Rob Griffin
