Yea the "other" story is.. there was a group of high school students in San Rafael California that called themselves "the waldo" a bunch of high school mis-fits. And they would meet everyday after school in front of the campus statue and smoke together and the time was always 4:20pm, so to talk about it in front of their parents they would just say 4:20. It was featured in a "high times" in 1998 and was dubbed the world wide known "smoke" time for smoking weed..
But the passage I just read sounds alot more crediable to me...
