Re: What are Compact Fluorescents and How Can I use them for Growing?

"Although you can successfully grow and flower a cannabis plant under a fluorescent, your results will be poor and you will most likely be disappointed. Use these lights only for seedlings and clones, and perhaps the vegetative stage of the cycle. A HID light is recommended for flowering."

I think this statement has been blown out of the water from Boss's grow and I've seen several others that look great too. Not putting you down Smokey, but I wouldn't recommend taking the cfl's apart. They are cheap enough now for 100 watt equivalents and to use the "Y" sockets and simple setups or cheap homemade setups that this shouldn't be necessary and sounds dangerous. I'm a big fan of the cfl's and the cheap lower wattage hps and mh that are for security and outdoor lighting. These are much cheaper and probably safer ways to get into the wonderful world of growing because you can buy them at local and big chain hardware stores like Lowes, Home Depot, Menards or any other ones around. I'm sorry for rambling, slightly ripped at the moment.
