I understand what you are saying about Effexor XR. I was on it for years. Three suicide attempts (found I was very good at it). Started back tokin' on a daily basis and have reduced my legal meds. Effexor is bad stuff. I am now on cannabis and Wellbutrin and not having suicidal thoughts. I think I may be able to go off Wellbutrin and anxiety meds, but am afraid to. If I forget to take it, my wife knows it before I do. She says I am at my best when I'm medicated with cannabis.
