Here in California, I cringe when I see news stories talking about how easy it is to get a marijuana referral. When the law passed, some people were filmed celebrating in the streets, flaunting their med cards and bragging about how easy it was to get a referral. No time would have been better for marijuana proponents to have been good winners and taken a low profile. Instead, the media jumped on every case they could find showing how the system was being manipulated. But the media only covers sensational events and with them, reality isn’t important. Their purpose is to outrage, get more viewers, and sell more commercials.

I don’t know what’s in the future for the medical marijuana initiatives in other states but I expect to see some backlash created by events reported here in California. Hopefully in the end, common sense will win and people will see the importance of legalization. The movement does need to put its best foot forward and though I'm new, this website does a pretty good job of that.
