This is what happens when you get the public involved: patients at the public input meetings insisted that dispensaries be non-profit because they didn't want to give up their free medicine. There was much loud screaming that they would publicly oppose the dispensary initiative if we didn't make the dispensaries non-profit. The folks who drafted the initiaitve caved and gave them what they wanted. Mostly folks from OR NORML and igotmycard.com who had their own political reasons for sabotaging the initiative.
