Re: Mylar, white paint, or foil

Freddy-

You were kind enough to offer me some advice about air pumps, so I have a suggestion:

Try Black/White polyvinyl. Sometimes called Panda Film, it is 95% reflective, very versatile, and durable if you opt for the 6mil thickness. Mylar is slightly more reflective, much more difficult to clean, about the same price, and definitely more fragile.

Poly is waterproof and lightproof. The black side keeps light out (and resists algae growth if used in Hydro arrangements), while the white side keeps the light in and together they form a good divider for various grow spaces. On cabinets and walls it is great as a lining and/or a 'door/curtain' for quick access.

I cover my Hydro table with a sheet of it to increase light reflection (which in turn, helps keep reservoir temps cooler than the plants above) and resists algae growth and drying out of the Rockwool grow medium, allowing me to gain better control of plant watering.

I've replied to a similar question in the Grow Forum with similar information. The Black/White poly is a legit option. Worth every nickel IMO.
