as far as venting, I punched a hole in the ceiling of my closet and push air out of it with a computer fan. a nice thing about the CFLs is that they make next to no heat, so you're really just giving your girls some fresh air. I don't use a dedicated intake, but air is drawn in around the door (little cracks) and I also do have the door open every several hours usually.
as far as nutes go- fish emulsion is great and available at hardware stores.
but, google maps hydroponics in your area- find the grow show shop. those places are fun, and have lots of great stuff. If you find Fox Farms- they go about $20 a bottle, and a trio will get you seed to harvest. they also make badass soil.
the problem with MG is the time release nutes. get soil soil, and add some perlite.
