I broke my back in '96. I woke up from my coma 17 days later hooked up to a m*rphine drip and unable to move from the waste down. I crushed 3 vertebrae (L1, L2, and T5)down to 50% their normal size, blew out 5 discs and had a small piece of one of the vertebrae lodged itself against my spinal cord. took them 7 MRI's to find it. They removed the chip surgically and 3 days later I started getting feeling and movement in my legs. I spent 3 months at Craig hospital here in Colorado for rehab. I now have arthritis, scoliosis that was caused by the injury and some of the nerves in my spine are "barbed", can't remember the 50-letter technical term, these "barbs" sometimes "catch" and cause major pain - for that pain I use f*ntanyl suckers, but to get thru the day, in general, I can get by smoking some good green herb or eating a brownie. They had me on O*y, Fl*xaril, and Amb*en for sleep. I hated the feeling of being doped up and, on my own, started smoking pot and decreasing my intake of the pills. I still have my moments, but I can say, with the exception of the f*ntanyl, I haven't taken any of the meds in over 4 years. I do have my "moments", but I put up with those. My last MRI, 3 months ago, actually showed things are degenerating and they want to put rods in. I have a real fear of allowing them to do this, since it is my back. I am debating on not doing the surgery until things get unbearable. I still work, just can't see myself on SSI and not working. As long as I have my weed...I know I will be fine. Here's my question...Indica or Sativa...which helps the most for chronic pain...I get mostly Indica buds here so if Sativa is better, I will grow it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
