Re: Medical Marijuana: A Surprising Solution to Severe Morning Sickness

This is a fabulous article, and I can relate to so much of what this person went through.

I found the article while searching for information on laws pertaining to child protection and marijuana use during pregnancy.

I am 31 weeks pregnant and have had severe morning sickness the entire time. My only relief is weed. I smoked prior to pregnancy to help relieve migraines caused by a condition called Intracranial Hypertension. Basically my brain produces too much spinal fluid and causes pressure to build up behind my eyes. I found smoking to bring significant relief for the pain.

(By the way, I know smoking it isn't the best way in my condition, but one bong hit every other day or so can't be that bad. I'm sure I inhale worse substances when I have my car windows down.)

When the morning sickness kicked in, I knew weed would help and decided that eating right was more important than any minor risk I may have read about. I don't believe it is harmful in any way, and I'm on track to have a healthy, normal-weight baby in 7 weeks.

What I am afraid about is my state's child protection laws. I've Googled and searched all the DHS websites for Oklahoma, etc. and have found nothing that tells me if Oklahoma drug tests their babies. I'm terrified that making this decision on my own may end up biting me in the butt. Does anyone know if Oklahoma does newborn drug screening?

Just FYI, I do not drink, smoke cigarettes, or do any other drugs - whether pregnant or not.

If anyone has any info on Oklahoma's laws, or is able to find info, I would be forever grateful. Maybe someone out there is a better Googler than me??

Thanks for reading, and I'm so glad I found this happy place!
