I really wish that was an option. A friend of mine has his vented out his attic vent and you can`t hear his fan at all inside or out. But my grow room is in a back porch (the kind tacked onto the back of a house long after the house was built) with no way to blow it out the attic.

I could blow it into the basement maybe. The problem with that is it`s 100 years old with a dirt floor and I`m battling a constant mold problem down there. I was worried that blowing humid air into it would make the mold problem worse.

To hang mine I used one of the flat rubber bungee cords and drilled holes in the rubber to shorten it, then I just used the mounting screws with some flat washers to screw the bungee to the fan, voila, a rubber non vibrating mounting strap with hooks. After I put the ducts on I built a box around the fan using two inch thich foam insulation taped togeather with foil tape. I have insulated ducting also. With it dimmed down to about 60% I can\\\'t hear it on the other side of my cardboard bedroom door.
Those are awesome ideas! I can totally see THAT set-up working in my space. Thanks for taking the time to describe it! :-)

Yeah... I hear ya on the hummmmmmm.... and when I turn my fan up to full speed, the hum turns into a roar so I\'m thinking it has more to do with the sound of the air-flow (still not really sure though)... gonna try some of blubullet`s ideas -- finger`s crossed... will report back & let y`all know if I was successful.

Thanks again for the replies! And good luck with your sound issues Aussie.
