I just did some research on dynarok. Its similar to vermiculite....It absorbs water to keep soil moist......Perlite doesnt do this. Perlite creates better drainage, and doesnt absorb water.....Back to dynarok. It says over time the "rok" releases silicon and other minerals...causing faster growth....I'd rather not smoke a plant that has absorbed silicon...So, if you want to use dynarok. I would instead recommend vermiculite, but make sure you also have enough perlite in the soil for proper drainage. Products like vermiculite I would only use for outdoor. It's meant to minimize waterings.

You guys are great sources of information, if only I had decided to join much much sooner I probably would've avoided many a headache! Thanks Bee! and thanks to you too Bubblebagman, which btw, I am also interested later in talking to you about the source of your name lol, is the bubble bag method the best way? I've seen many other ways but this interests me the most due to it only being ice cold water basically and a filtration system using different micron screens, am I right? Also, if you could please provide a list of recommended ballast manufactureres that would put me in the right direction I would highly appreciate it! I am going to try and get a ballast off ebay because I have a 10% off coupon they gave me(eBay) and I know their prices are usually better than anywhere else, the only Hydro store I know of and go to is GreenCoast Hydroponics Grow Lights -Hydroponic Systems - GreenCoast Hydroponics, and thats because a dispensary actually recommended them. I just thought their prices were kinda high when it comes to lights, maybe I'm wrong though as I know nothing other than watts and lumens. Again, thank you all very much!

that link you provided for your hyrdo store...has a good product for $404.95...
The Sun System® VI has a very unique feature. It is a switchable ballast that is capable of running either a Metal Halide lamp OR a High Pressure Sodium. Only available in 400 and 1000 watt sizes. To change from one to the other, you simply insert the appropriate lamp and set the switch to the correct operational setting. Comes standard with a Sun Gro Reflector This Sun System VI comes standard with the Sun Gro horizontal reflector which due to it's almost completely even proportions, offers a very nice box-like spread of illumenesence. The reflector measures 20 ½" long by 20 ¾" wide and is constructed of white powder coated steel. It includes a spectral pebble aluminum insert which increases light output by 30%. And to answer your question....you are right. bubblebags are the way to go. It's a little time consuming but worth it. |

As for the plants, these are old pics, Im just posting in chronological order so people can see the progress I've made, yeah the lighting issue sucked because I had NO lights only sun lol, I was dumb enough to just grab the clone, come home and say, ok now what do I need to do LOL... since it's so easy and anyone can do it(you know how you always hear that, but everyone fails to mention thats outdoors, and that you're only going to get back what you put in!) Since then I have acquired fluorescents which you will see in about a few hundred more posts LOL. I honestly havent read the rules around here so please let me know if I am doing something I shouldnt.. i.e., posting all these old pics.. although it IS my grow journal, Im just showing where I've been and where I'm going :D You are all much appreciated my friends!

silicon is awesome stuff man, not only can they make breasts larger with it, but it make the plants happy too. It strengthens plant tissue to guard against adverse environmental conditions.
