How Much Longer Can We Allow Cops to Function Like GANGS?

I just got back home from the LA area. In my travels home I had a frustrating experience in Oklahoma that I am certain some of you have had as well. I will share that with you later, but first, I think I need to say. I am 37 years old and have driven over 100,000 miles and probably ridden another 20,000 as a kid just in traveling (road trips only not including every day driving). I have been in 40 of the 48 continental United States and have probably driven 30,000 miles in the last year. In that last year of traveling the United States, I have driven from Michigan to Maine, Denver (three times), Seattle to Huntington Beach and back to Seattle, Huntington Beach, Arizona, and Atlanta. During this time of travel I have noticed something that was once a rare thing transform into an increasingly disturbing trend, and has made me start to wonder. How many cops does it take to pull over a vehicle?
The number of police officers and squad cars that are present in routine traffic stops has become increasingly alarming. When I was a kid in the 80’s and early 90’s you used to see speed traps all over the place. Usually it was 3 cops with 3 cars pulled over and another one working the gun. So we have four cops and cars and three cars pulled over. I used to travel through Ohio too. The state that figured out silver is the hardest to see from a distance. Yes, they actually did a study to paint cop cars that color. Now it seems rare to not see three cars at every traffic stop. When I was a kid and you saw three cops you knew that person had really screwed up. Today, they were probably just doing 6 mph over and a grandmother. Three cops for one speeding grandma? That is absolutely insane; look out granny might have cookies and milk in there guys. Almost every time a semi-truck is pulled over it’s by 3 cop cars. Seeing just one cop car is what has become rare. In my area, are told we need more cops. Nobody asks why are there always 5 cops and 3-4 cars around one pulled over car? Maybe it’s because they are taught and trained to intimidate. What’s more intimidating to most people than 4 cops surrounding their car for speeding? The Police gangs know there is strength in numbers. There are so many more ways to assert your power with people when there are 3 or more of you. So it has been the common thing to have packs of police pull people over. You don’t need more cops. You need the cops we have to actually do their job. Now that’s a funny statement the police to do their job.
Does anybody know what the police’s job is anymore?? It used to be proudly displayed on all badges and cars “to serve and protect”. Has anyone else noticed that sort of unceremoniously stopped being put on cars and badges? Now I get that is still their job, but who are they serving and protecting? Let’s take a look into that. I can tell you it isn’t the people anymore. In large part it’s the prison Industries. The people are customers for the private prison industry. Yeah nothing can go wrong when you make incarceration a profitable business. And in business you know you can’t just have a steady bottom line. No no no my friends, that has to continue to go up up up or the private money quits investing. Who else are they protecting? You know they protect politicians that they have to answer too. They are paid by the prison industry to make bullshit laws so cops can pull over citizens and generate income for the city, or better yet find some weed or a drunk and add one in the prison industry customer column as well. Or they protect and serve themselves.
These next few paragraphs are something that just happened to me Monday night February, 18th 2014 at mile maker 7. I was 7 miles into Oklahoma traveling east on US40 from Amarillo TX. I come across a speed trap that just happens to be on the edge of the first rest stop in OK. The speed limit was 70mph and, I was clocked doing an astounding 73mph by Officer Perry Branson. I pull into the rest stop for two reasons 1. I had to piss. 2. In my state and to my knowledge if they don’t have any lights or sirens on before you stop and pull the keys out they can’t do shit to you. WRONG. Legally maybe, but they certainly will do whatever the hell they want to. So, Officer Perry Branson proceeds with his traffic stop and I am asked to sit in his car since I was already out of mine. In less than half a minute two more cars pull up. I get a warning ticket and my license back and told I can leave. As I get out of car the Officer Perry Branson Badge number 480 troop SO says, “Hey, I wanna talk to you for a minute.” I said “no” Officer Perry Branson says, “No you’re gonna sit down right here.” I say “no I’m not you gave me my DL this traffic stop is over and walk to my car”. He proceeds to grab my arm and pull me back to his car and says, “no I’m gonna search your car”. I say, “no you aren’t this is an illegal stop and search process you have no warrant or cause”. I say this right to his camera. Officer Branson calls me a smart ass forces me to put hands together and illegally pats me down. He then tells my girlfriend to get out of the car and go sit in the back of his. They take a dog around my car place the dog bone on top of the driver side car door and tell me the dog hit on my car. I didn’t say it because I am already missing two front teeth, but I really wanted to say “that’s because your lackey put his bone on top of it”.
Now by this time five of them are there. If you have ever been robbed before, you know what kind of scene it looks like when someone tosses your home. They proceed to pull everything out of my car the empty the suitcases and just throw the clothes all over outside. Throw my golf clubs out. My computer got tossed all the papers in my briefcase got tossed and scattered outside. They ripped up back seats dumped my food, opened and poured out my full coffee grounds. Finally, they find what they were looking for. The shoebox that is in the trunk that has my meds in it, dab rig, 5 grams of dabs, 14g of weed, seeds, and assorted key chains ashtrays and other souvenir goods. They also take the brownies “just in case” as I heard them say. We are then pulled out of Officer Branson’s car. Officer Perry Branson Badge number 480 tells me “if you ever try any shit like that again with another officer you’ll be spitting teeth. I’m an 18 year veteran and a little more patient. These other guys would just slam me down and kick the shit out of me”. Now mind you all I did was invoke my civil rights. “Now clean all this shit up and get the fuck out of here, you can find a bathroom up the road”. WTF? Really?
I get the fact that what I had was illegal. By all rights I should have been arrested and put in jail. I am okay with that it’s a risk we all take one time or another. But this, this became something entirely different. This was a robbery by a gang. Once my traffic stop ended and Officer Perry Branson and his gang members started to intimated me and pulled me back to their car and my girlfriend out of my car. Then two more gang members showed up and the five of them tossed my stuff until they found what they wanted collected it and stole it. The only thing a gang does the cops didn’t was kick my ass. But I was told by Officer Branson It about did happen so I don’t really see too much difference. I was lucky yes. I was really lucky they didn’t find my girlfriends $750 or that would have been gone too. So here is the most telling and fucked up part of it all. I know it was a bullshit search, and I know the dog never really hit on my driver side door. How do I know this you’re asking me? Well if the dog really hit on my drive side door; where is the first place you would check? The drive side door right? Well if Officer Perry Branson’s gang would have done that they would have found the empty pack of cigarettes that had 10 rolled joints in it and about 5 roaches. They never found it and never even looked at my door. Nor did they find my vape pen that was in the council under the stereo. They just wanted to toss car and see what they could find. See this is the crux of my frustration. Everybody says damn you got lucky dude be happy you got to go home. Yeah I got to go home. Hell, Thanks to the crack squad of super troopers I got to get high the whole way home too. But am I really supposed to smile and be happy about it?
Why? Why am I supposed to be happy I got to go home? If you take the police and the jail element out of it, and say I had a flat tire and Officer Perry Branson and his gang is just 5 people. And these five gang members rob me just like that should I then still just smile? This is fucking bullshit I can handle being arrested for breaking the law by the cops but being robbed like a seasoned gang of thieves by the cops is too much. The police force uses their perceived power to abuse citizens and protect everyone that isn’t 99% of America. Our state and local police forces have become mercenaries for politicians, and special interest groups. And like most mercenaries when they’re left to their own devices they rape, pillage and plunder the local citizens. Always returning with a bounty of goods for either the people they truly work for, or their next celebration. Why do we continue to allow this gang mentality? Why do we continue to allow our tax dollars to be used to pay for the special interest group’s gang of mercenaries that target us? I for one can’t and won’t let it happen anymore. And I sure in the fuck am not going to JUST smile and be happy either. Thinking that I would was Oklahoma State Trooper/gang member Officer Perry Branson’s first mistake…
