This education is going to have to happen over time. Old folks are set in their ways and and the war on drugs has been going on all their lives(with all the mis-information that came with it). I had to start with talking about hemp and how good it is for the planet. Once you have something made of hemp( a hat or shirt or purse) and you show them a concrete item made from it. Then you can introduce topics like the oil from the seeds being good for food and fuel and show them a lotion or get some hemp ice cream. Once they are used to the idea that this one plant can do all these things you then talk about the medicinal uses.

They maybe resistant to hearing you from that point on but if they talk about their aches and pains , tell them that this takes the pain away SAFELY. If they have glaucoma, talk about how it helps there. If they have Cancer of any sort I would strongly urge them to sit down and watch Rick Simpson's Run from the Cure. Since I am a medical user it makes it much easier to talk about the benefits from direct experience.

Good luck.

Ps. I would address any fears they have about smoking it by saying it can be eaten and vapourized. I also used the joke of " I know how much cannabis it takes to kill a lab rat? 25 pounds, as long as it is dropped on it from about 20 feet..." ; it took them a bit to get the joke!

A few weeks back I decided to get out for a few hours so I went to a club. It wasn't my scene but an outing none the less. I wanted to dance but the music wasn't right and my back was bothering me some so I chilled for a min in the VIP and just watched the women dance (tryna get into it). Still didn't happen. So I went to my car and rolled a swisher of deep chunk X strawberry cough. Walked back toward the club and found a spot on the side (of the club) to sit. I made sure that I wasn't intruding on the couple's (sitting parallel to me) moment alone, they assured me I wasn't. I took a seat trying to give them a little space and privacy and fired up a cool one.I'm out herr smokin, relaxing, enjoying the scenery. U know, people watching. So I'm halfway thru the swisher when this group of chicks sit next to me. Now I had been observing these girls/ladies for a few hours (not this particular group. I mean in general) in the club. So I strike up a conversation with one
"Excuse me, lil mama. Y is it that u girls spend half of the night holding each other's hands dragging each other around the club?"
At that moment she wobbles forward (while sitting) to catch herself and slurred something to her homegirl. Guess that answered my question. So within like 3 mins, a young, college guy stumbles my way between drags and asks "Can I bum a cigarette off u?"
I just sat there and stared at him while smoking. When it was apparent that he didn't get it, I informed him that "I don't do cigs." He responds, "Then what's that?" I responded by blowin smoke into his nasal region. He looks and turns to the chicks next to me and asks them the same question. On his way back to his girl he turns hesitates, turns back around and proceeds to her. I know that look all to well but respected the fact the he didn't ask being that I didn't know him. Now that relief is here, I'm feelin good. Ready to cut 2 rugs with 10 razors, but I didn't want any more of the swisher and didn't wanna carry it around (even tho I had my smell proof tube). So as I'm walking back in taking my last pull, I go over to the college guy whose girl is in a drunken frenzy on the phone (dunno what was wrong but it sounded all bad). I stopped in front of him, looked at her, and told him "it looks like U guys can use this a little more than I right now" handed him the swisher and walked off.
No sooner than I hit the corner did I hear her, say "Dude that smells like some fire bombay!! Thanks man!!!"
I smiled and chucked the duece as I proceeded inside.
I wanted to see if they had cards and exchange numbers, but that's not my get down. It would have been nice to just be able to say thanks for the compliment. This isn't the 1st time this has happened. I had a blunt in my shirt pocket bout to fire up and a guy walking down the street comes up to me sniffing talkin bout "I'm wanna know where that's at."
These kinda situations I find frustrating. That and the fact that almost all the smokers I know have been smoking my shit with me for close to 2 years. I don't think they have a clue. It sucks because I know some of them grow. Some told me and others just leave the wrong shit laying around the house, but I never say anything. Am I trippin' or anyone else feel me? It would be nice to let the world know (or at least it feels like that sometimes).

I was perusing the blog portion of the site to better familiarize myself with it and discovered the recent entries and best blog tabs. I clicked best blog entries and to my surprise there were none. Of all the blogs, none. Reason being is people are reading but not rating. Click the rating button tab (with gold stars next to it or "rate this entry" in the upper right corner for blogs) and rate it according to ur opinion or feelings. Also when u view people's journals (especially if u take the time to read the entire thing) rate them afterward. Even if u didn't like it in particular. I've read quite a few journals and a lot were good or had a lot of good qualities. I feel these get overlooked because people go to the journals section and see a journal with five stars and 5000 or more views they'll be more prone to go there and peruse the journal section in this fashion. I also noticed that of all of the ratings none were below average. If u don't like something or think it was done or expressed poorly rate it. U can rate anonymously. I believe poor ratings can help as well. They can be entertainingly poor (just ridiculous growing habits and/or expectations, asking 4 a lot of help but using none of it, or just an all around haphazard grow). They can be informatively poor (u can learn what not to do and why not to do it). Also when in the photo gallery take a moment to rate the photos u see. There is a quick rating feature where all u have to do is click the corresponding bubble b4 viewing the next pic. C'mon u fuckin stoners, let's liven things up a little!!! :peace:

Its been a little wail cents I last posted something here. Let me just say thanks to all the ppl who help out with pot reform.
I am hopeful that the herb will be seen as a plant in a few years and we can all go on with are lifes.:439:

I had a question about a law in VA.
If I have done the first offenders program for about 6mouths and paid all bills they thu at me(about $2000) and did all my CS(24hr). The only thing I didn’t do was ASAP!( but I paid them $400 and did mini drug test and passed them all.) And then had my case sent back to court for non compliance...(don't ask why)
How much jail time am I looking at?
Should I go to the court and turn myself in for 30days in jail?
(If that’s what I’m looking at)
I need some kind of out side voice so I can think about what I’m going to do.
I don’t know if this helps but I was charged with smoking weed.lol I wasn’t selling or growing or anything like that. Just sitting at the park smoking a joint..:rollit:. I am hopeful that I just slip under the radar for a bit and they forget all about me. I don’t need a Drivers Lis cuz I don’t have a car so I am not too worried about them taken that away... Hum, I don’t have a job right now so if I have to do jail time for smoking pot now is a good time.hahaha

I just want to be left alone. I will do jail time if that is what needs to be done. Also I have moved to a new city not state. So I'm far away from where they got me. But still in VA.

Any help would be helpful. Thanks.:thankyou:

Peace
JAMS007
:peace:

Ok so I spent alot of time typing what I thought was a hell of a blog. It was accidentally erased b4 I could post. So I'm gonna be blunt and get to the point and I really could give 2 shits if u like it or not.

Cannabis is by definition an herb or plant to say the least, not a weed. Although the widely accepted name for the plant is weed, that it is not. Here's the definition from a widely trusted, respected, and accepted source (I c no need for citation here. The link to source posted below):"

Code:

    * Main Entry: 1weed
    * Pronunciation: \ˈwēd\
    * Function: noun
    * Etymology: Middle English, from Old English wēod weed, herb; akin to Old Saxon wiod weed
    * Date: before 12th century

1 a (1) : a plant that is not valued where it is growing and is usually of vigorous growth; especially : one that tends to overgrow or choke out more desirable plants

There are other definitions that don't apply, although I learned that tobacco products are also called weed. Here's a link for anyone who desires to see if they can find any contrary info in other definitions > weed - Definition from the Merriam-Webster Online Dictionary Cannabis is definitely "of value". I have yet to see,read, and/or speak to some1 about ecological shifts due to the invasion of wild cannabis. One would think that this would be the case down south and mid-western states where industrial hemp was most recently farmed, I think (recently farmed meaning one of the last areas used b4 prohibition). Any1 ever hear of or have a problem with hemp/wild cannabis (with very low thc levels, not suitable for medicinal use to handle the myriad of patients ails) invade their native plants or crops? Its really cut and dry to me so I'll try not to ramble. Here's my point. Cannabis, weed, bud, or whatever moniker suits ur tongue is actually an herb. Here's the definition

Code:

    * Main Entry: herb
    * Pronunciation: \ˈərb, US also & British usually ˈhərb\
    * Function: noun
    * Usage: often attributive
    * Etymology: Middle English herbe, from Anglo-French, from Latin herba
    * Date: 14th century

1 : a seed-producing annual, biennial, or perennial that does not develop persistent woody tissue but dies down at the end of a growing season
2 : a plant or plant part valued for its medicinal, savory, or aromatic qualities
3 slang : marijuana 2

Funny how its says slang for marijuana on this definition and not the other, LOL. Any how the only logical refutation I can see coming is about the woodsy tissue part. Cannabis (specifically out doors does have a woodsy looking stalk/trunk, See Dirtfarmer's Backyard Giants>http://www.420magazine.com/forums/ou...-giants-5.html thread as a reference post #64. The purpose of this site to my understanding is to spread cannabis awareness. Not learn what u can and run with it.Too many people log on ask a couple questions and r seldom ever seen again. If ur here, reading this right now, U've already taken the first step.U are reading and learning right now. We must educate ourselves b4 we can educate others and its a process.1st is enlightenment or an idea. Next u act on the idea and begin to search. After search (if done correctly) u should have a plethora of resources to sift thru and compare info to discern fact from theory. Next u study, internalize it. Now comes the hard part, passing the message. U can tell someone, but if ur approach is wrong ur words most likely will fall upon def ears. In order to circumvent the masses of DEA followers and propaganda aficionados their ears need to be prepared for the message. Similar to how John the Baptist was said to be a forerunner for Jesus. He is credited (by some theological minds) for paving the way or preparing the people for Jesus' coming. Our cause is no different structurally. When I see people refer to this herb as "a weed", (I'm gonna be me here for a sec) shit just sounds ignorant as fuck!! And honestly it bothers me. It bothers me to see people come here and ask dumb ass redundant questions that a simple search of the threads could've solved. Most people are just lazy, I can relate. But lazy and not willing to educate urslef B4 u try to educate others, IMO u are a waste of words. The people who have been here a while and don't have "new member" by their name need to use the search tool and do some real research. There's really no excuse. There's way more to herb than just bud, hash smoking, and edibles. Honestly I think if our advocates dropped the medical marijuana initiative and push the industrial hemp initiative 1st we'd make more headway faster economically as well as politically. Once hemp passes then come back for the MMJ. Only reason MMJ is here now the way it is is because outsiders are interested in the money. Industrial hemp can be approached the same way. Commercializing it would be a good thing. Commercializing MMJ, bad (look at the pharmaceutical industries death grip on the health care system.) Herb will always be with us, legal or illegal I'm smoking. But this hemp thing is another story another blog. Much respect to Jack Herrer, a real cannabis warrior. The Emperor Wears No Clothes is turning into an interesting read. Back to the weed thing. Simply put its fits the herb definition much better. It produces seed and its an annual plant that typically dies at the end of the growing season. By some medical scientists and foreign authorities it is medicinal. If ur a doubter or naysayer, google Sativex which was produced and marketed in Spain 1st, as an inhaler I believe.Marinol doesn't count, its synthetic. To cannabis opponents, get with it or get away from it. Don't try to dictate to us how, when, why, and how much to use or posses. Me, I'ma do me regardless and so should you. Real shit. Think I got it all out.Wish u coulda read the 1st blog I typed. Thanks for reading.

The political climate in California has provided a legal and safe market for business in the medicinal trade (I know big pharmaceutical companies don't feel that). For me I look at this as an escape from the world in which I live. I am an aberrant (learned that from brother Aberration) looking to legitimize my chosen profession. Although I have a lot to learn this has been a dream since a teen and now I'm living it. This isn't quite how I pictured it (thought I'd be outdoors). I never anticipated the loneliness. Never factored that into my ambitions. This is truly not an occupation for everyone. A lot of sacrifice involved. Only one person has seen anything 1st hand, because they were there from jump. I'd like to let some of my people know so that if anything should happen, they can try to salvage my work for ($ for) funeral arrangements or god forbid legal fees, but I find it hard to trust people. People talk too damn much. One of the only people I'd have trusted to work with w/o much thinking died on me. Hard to make new friends (same and opposite sex), afraid to leave for more than a day (sometimes less), SECURITY IS ALWAYS AN ISSUE. The friends part is hard because if its not cannabis related, most other things don't hold/catch my attention very long. So I don't have much to talk about, kinda isolated type of lifestyle. Pay's ok, but I kinda miss having a life too. I just wanted to get this off my chest because I don't really have any1 to talk to plus I'm not the friendliest, most personable dude either. Hell if it wasn't for prop 215, I don't know where I'd be right now. Probably working some job I hate out of boredom or worse. I;m debt free, working on complete independence , and providing jobs in my region. This leaves me with much to be thankful for. I guess its all a part of the universal balance, dunno. If any1 can feel this let me know. :peace: Keep it green and keep it lit. :smokin:

What does it mean to be a stoner? well stoners are a unique group of people. Now i'm only 20 years old but thru my travles n exp. soo far ive come across a vase amount of people. people ranging from tattoo artist to teachers, from law enforcment to students n so forth. we are unique in our world smokers because only a select few of us have the ability to fuction greatly when were stoned. soo highly fuctional that not even family members or co-workers know that we smoke this peace giving plant. we are masters of hiding were high. we work high, we comunicate with each other high... shit we even make love high. (laughs) but we still get the job done n we get it done right... (RoorRip takin bong hit)

The point im trying to make is we are an underground group of individuals who saw past the bullshit the D.A.R.E. programs used to give to us back in school n expanded our minds to everything we come across in our lives. we think very rashanolly, we dont make hasty desisions, n if were in the right conversation most of us can solve political issues like legalizing marijuana.

We hide our true selfs from the world but come together at certin events and on websites such as this one... we are friendly people just trying to get others to open there eyes n see our way of life. our knowledge of the plant we smoke is unbeatable as u read this right now i can assure u some teacher is lighting up a joint, a judge is smokin a blunt and somewhere a son and his parents are hitting the bong together... thats just our way of life, its how we cope with all the fucked up troubles we encounter in this god forsaken world...

Some of us are trying to change the laws soo we can have the freedom that we should have to smoke in peace without worrying that some cop is going to pull us over... soo to those of u who are apart of this sociaty i say toke up!!! hit ur pipes, ur joints, ur blunts n ur bongs hit ur vaporizers if u got them because i salute u.. for u are the true stoners and masters of weed. never being asked the question "is that person high?" To all my fellow stoners i hope one day we can share a 420 session but till then take one hit for me... :ganjamon:
just a stoner thought,
I wanted to punch the screen but it wouldn't have done any good so I didn't. This is a seriously bad show with misinformation and something has to be done about it.

The Festival is on as planned, with Maine vocals founder Don Christen in JAIL for the REMAINDER OF THE FESTIVAL SEASON.

Don Christen has been jailed for his work in the Medical Marijuana Fields, even though a recent court decision declaired him a LEGAL MEDICAL MARIJUANA PATIENT and CAREGIVER!

This case was much like the one he just won, and was an older case. Many feel the jail time is more of a result of a DA with a grudge, and not about Maine State Law.

Don called me a week prior to going in to do his time and asked me to keep things as smooth as possible with him off the scene. I am now official MC for the remainder of the Maine Vocals shows this season. Shows will be run just like they always have been, as Don Christen has set them up failsafe in the event of his being locked down by the system. This is not a first!

If you can find your way to Maine this weekend, please stop by and check out the NEW MAINE VOCALS FESTIVAL SITE in HARMONY MAINE for HEMPSTOCK!

LEGALIZE!

I got the MMAR forms from Michelle Rainey and I had a friend who is also a card holder to come in and explain the process. We felt like we had ganged up on her(my doctor), but it is for a good cause. I have chronic pain that has been verified by MRI and X-Rays. The Doc knows I am not faking my pain. She is just uncomfortable prescribing a herb that she can not control the dose(since different types have different levels of THC and other cannabinoids). Doctors like to have control, so they naturally distrust anything they can not control (that is my theory and I am sticking to it). The long story shortened is the papers are on there way to Ottawa by registered mail and now I have to wait 6-8 weeks for the card.

I want to publicly thank Michelle and my friend Mike for making this happen.

In that room we changed a person, a doctor and we changed too. I hope she does not regret her choice. I will not do anything to make her regret it. I can now sit back and not do anything since I now can smoke to my heart's content, but the wiser side of me who likes to cause trouble (in a good way) is now free to do even more activism. People helped me and now I have to pass that on forward.

Well, I am 40 years old and I grew up in western Canada, I smoked weed for the first time when I was younger and it was the start of a beautiful relationship. Alcohol was ok, but after seeing my friends get sick every weeekend from drinking I knew it was not for me.
Back in the 80's weed was plentiful but was mostly Mexican brick shit that would get you high but hash and oil were the prizes of the day.
Over the years I cut way back on my smoking as most of my jobs had zero tolerance when it came to cannabis. I also had to be carefull after moving to the U.S. in 2001 as I could have been deported if caught with any amount of drugs, I am now a legal citizen though and have some what safely returned to enjoying my old habit.
Since the 80's weed growers have mastered the art of genetics and gardening to the point of producing some extremely potent strains the likes of which we never knew existed years ago. Sadly where I live they are hard to find and your usually not getting what is advertised at horrendously expensive prices I may add.
Last year my wife was diagnosed with breast cancer. It was then that I got the idea of starting my own grow in the hopes of getting her a proven weapon against some of the side effects of todays cancer treatments. She was not a smoker at the time and if she was going to use I wanted her to have a good supply of the best medicine I could grow.
Thankfully the cancer was caught early enough and while she did undergo some extremely aggressive surgery and reconstruction over the last year she is cancer free and did not require chemo therapy or radiation.
My grow which was well underway after getting her clean bill of health was a fantastic distraction for me while living through the nightmare that cancer brings to a familys life.
That hobby has now turned into my passion and I am anxiosly awaiting my first grow to finish.
