Re: Homemade CFL chandelier

Yes but a 600 watt hps would put out double the lumens.

Cool blue or daylight, higher K the better. Warm lights around 3000K are for veg and match Metal Halide lamps.

Oh and how much money have you spent on cfl's and fixtures by now? Really woulda been better off saving up for a HID.

Re: Homemade CFL chandelier

When I was germinating my seeds, I used a regular plastic bulb fixture with a pullchain on/off, a Y connector screwed into that, two other Y connectors screwed into the first, and the 4 bulbs screwed into those. No having to use cheap stuff like rubber bands or w/e, worked perfectly for me. I also made reflectors out of coke cans :D

can't see the base and everything, but you can see how the lights looked

this way you get the most light out of the bulbs onto the plants as possible, since they're more perpendicular to the tops of the plants (as opposed to the one with the power strip, where the light mostly goes to the sides)

Got it backwards there bud. 3000k is warm and resembles HPS's spectrum for flowering. Cool blue daylight 6500K are for vegging and resemble Metal Halide

^ That's the coolest thing I've seen all day. I love that idea with the cans :)

Yes you should get more light off the CFL from its side rather than its top.

Re: Homemade CFL chandelier

i use a similiar homemade chandelier. with 6 warm 27w cfls plus 2 more around the sides. this appears to be my only option as my stealth cab is 2' x 2' & only 3' tall. i have the resources for a 250w hps, but im not sure if thats enough height??. i have some lowryders i will be starting soon..so that may help also.

Are you talking about the outlet to socket adapter or the y splitter adapter? Both are available at your local hardware store.
