Peace everyone,
I want to start off saying you gals and guys rock. Very inspiring journals and grow techniques that has gotten me all geeked to give it a shot. My set up room is 2x2.5x6. Very small but will work for now. Brainstorming on a adequate air flow setup atm. Was thinking of cutting a hole in the wall and just sucking heat and stank in the wall with a few fans moving the air. I'm new to this sorry if that sounds foolish : / I plan on building 2 other boxes to host some more girls and their mother if things work out close to the plan. For now I have eight clf 26/100w, one 46/150w, two 65w grow-n-show bulbs and one 20w flo My local shops didn't carry anything but MG potting mixes so I grabbed some moist control and "organic" soil. Not really into all the nutes terminology yet so I grabbed the only organic solution they carried : / I got a small worm farm and compost bin. Would worm and compost tea be a good to use ? Using mixed schwagseeds to work and experiment with. Lately I've been sparking midgrade schwag so my hopes are so-so but not low. My question to the closet cultivators is now many girls can I host in this small space with reasonable yields? I was going to put 3-5 in there depending on observation. Anyways here are a few pics I took in early stages of construction. ![]() ![]() ![]() time for me breakfast

You could fit plenty of plants in there if your gonna grow with cfls...They wont get too big.
Now for the problems. Your soil is no good. Yor nutes are no good. That black light wont do nothing. What are those blue lights?

Cool I'll take back the dirt and nutes. What about the tea? I really wanna go as organic as my pockets will let me. I was wondering about the black light.... thanks. The blue lights are the so called grow-n-show lights I bought while back and never used, thought I could utilize them some how now that I got some room.
So what kind of earth and nutes should I look for if its available at homedepot or lowes? |

LOL your funny Stoner lol. Thanks for the info dude.
FYI those type of lights actually did work for my first partial grow in my basement lol damn those were the days. Entertainment center converted to grow box. Light leakage everywhere. lol I had 2 100w grow n shows back then and several 20w flo's. Man I was using dirt from outside to, lmfao and the thing practically died on me from soil line rot. Being stubborn I placed some stakes to hold her up and she turned out to be a beast for the short time of her life : ( The damn girl grew pretty healthy and to big for the space. Once that skunk smell started to emerge I had to ditch her or find somewhere else to live : / Sorry man that brought back some good ol times down memory lane. Thanks again for the info StonerGrower. Hopefully I can get started soon. Last edited by Soniq420; 02-21-2009 at 02:35 PM. Reason: guidelines |

i like your closet man!
as far as venting, I punched a hole in the ceiling of my closet and push air out of it with a computer fan. a nice thing about the CFLs is that they make next to no heat, so you're really just giving your girls some fresh air. I don't use a dedicated intake, but air is drawn in around the door (little cracks) and I also do have the door open every several hours usually. as far as nutes go- fish emulsion is great and available at hardware stores. but, google maps hydroponics in your area- find the grow show shop. those places are fun, and have lots of great stuff. If you find Fox Farms- they go about $20 a bottle, and a trio will get you seed to harvest. they also make badass soil. the problem with MG is the time release nutes. get soil soil, and add some perlite.

Well if those lights work then I would use them too. You should be able to get Pro-Mix soil from your local nursery...They might even carry Fox Farms if your lucky.

Those show and grows are like using a hopped up incandescent. Great for low light plants like moms house plants but not worth a crap for light loving plants like cannabis. They might put out enough usable light to sustain life but your not going to get the growth a floro or HID would get you.

It looks like my first crop...kinda! Don't transplant just wrap the cups, you don't want the roots to receive light. I personally like miracle grow 3 month nutrient release and add perlite 80/20 mix. I used 42 watt cfl's. You don't need ventilation just a fan. Water is the key a successful crop, so make sure your ph water level is set a 6.8 when growing with miracle grow 3 month, the ph is 5.1. So check your bag for the ph level. When you transplant I recommend 3 gallon containers. Keep the lights at all time 3 inches away.
Otherwise your set up is beautiful. I only had 3 girls but I yielded 11 ounces at 2 feet tall in 70 days. I got all this from home depot Last edited by theganjaguru; 10-31-2008 at 06:52 AM. Reason: added more |

Thanks for the feed back.
I should clear up the first pics. I will not be using any miracle grow potting soil. I used some plain eco garden potting soil. Bought me some bone meal, fish emulsion and even some african violet bloom nutes for some experimenting during flowering. It's all fun right..... theganjaguru- Did you only use cfl's for flowering ? And what would be a good material to wrap the cups with ? |

Just get new cups, the roots hate those clear cups. Even better, get at least a 1 gal pot and transplant to that, use that good soil and give your (ladies) love. You can use CLFS for flowering, but it wont be AS good as an HID but you can still get great yields.

This is why cfl's are great, you can put them 360 degrees around the plant and really close. I used 42 watt warm cfl's for all stages and kept 8 covering the 3 girls from all directions, 3 inches away. A lot of cultivators hate cfl's because they believe they don't work but I've used a lot of different lights including Led, HPS, MH and all kinds of different spectrum bulbs. So far I like cfl's the best for closet crops because you can get close with no worries of heat or burn.
Just put new cups (not clear ones) under the clear cups, you'll be fine. I do recommend using HID's but only if you can afford them and do it right with a cooling system. What are you going to use to control the odor? |
