Aloha  欢迎 :welcome: to my kitchen 420 family :yummy:

We're brewing freshly picked cannabis leaves and flowers Chinese-style in this thread.
One brew with many yummy uses :yummy:

I was going to make this thread yesterday, but got side-tracked by the hot canna cocoa I had yesterday morning.:laughtwo: I was not sleeping well over the weekend because of pain and multiple light seisures. I hadn't taken any cannabis medication in a couple of weeks because I wanted to give my cannabis ladies a break. That hot canna cocoa that I had yesterday made me realize how fatigue and low energy I was, so I went  with no seizure issues. However, I feel invigorated, creative, and empowered! This is the way CBD with a pinch of myrcene works for me.

I'll be breaking up the thread in manageable posts so I can add manageable chunks to the Chinese brew and its uses:

1) High CBD strains and when to use them to take advantages of their gentle analgesic, anti-inflamatory and relaxing effects to treat anxiety, stress, muscle spasms, seizures, sleep issues and joint stiffness from rheumatoid arthritis.

2) Brief introduction to inexpensive cooking methods and tools to make the most out of brewing with cannabis. This method is medicinal and not psychoactive. It can give very mild euphoria and sleepiness if you drink too much. (I'll make a new thread later on cooking methods to brew potent cannabutter for CBD and THC.)

3) How to make a Chinese-style cannabis brew. This chapter is the meat of our humble thread.

4) Recipes! This chapter is the yummy part of our humble thread with sub posts on:
  • Fragrant Canna Jasmine Green Tea
  • Hot Canna Cocoa
  • French Press Canna Coffee
  • Nothing says love more than a bowl of hot Savory Canna Chicken Noodle Soup

I'm writing this stuff from memory online and have already uploaded the pics I'll be using. I'm learning how to use the 420 forum editor and have a tad bit of dyslexia so pardon me in advance for any errors please.

See you all :circle-of-love: in my next post that I'll be writing after I have some more Fragrant Canna Jasmine Green Tea :Namaste:

Caveat: I am not a medical doctor, nor do I play one on TV. I am writing from my experience and research. However, according to multiple studies in the US National Library of Medicine National Institutes of Health, CBDs have proven medical applications in treating chronic pain, neuropsychiatric, and psychiatric disorders.

My brew makes use of the analgesic and soothing effects CBDs and myrcene terpenes to help treat my own crippling auto immune disorder which includes muscle spasms, seizures, intense connective tissue pain, joint stiffness, cognitive deficit, anxiety, stress and wild blood sugar swings which have landed me in the hospital. I hope this CBD brew is able to help you or a loved one too.

When choosing a strain to harvest for leaves and flowers, I recommend high CBD indica dominant photo-period strains. Indica dominant genes respond well to constant harvesting by becoming even more bushier. Indica dominant strains handle harvesting stress better than auto-flowering strains which are more sensitive and may hermaphrodite. Sativa dominant strains tend to grow tall, rather than bushy and will look rather sparse from constant harvesting. Bear in mind, genetic mixes can also affect bushiness, which means some indica dominant phenotypes will grow more like a sativa while some sativa dominant phenotypes will grow bushy like an indica. Therefore, high CBD auto-flowering stains and sativa/indica strains that grow like Christmas trees are best harvested when their buds are ripe.

I personally recommend Medicann's Blue Blood strain for this brew because BB:
  • grows bushy
  • responds well to pruning
  • does not stress out when harvested
  • can be harvested at 2 feet tall into veg period and into budding
  • leaves have a slight minty taste
  • low odor

When & What To Harvest For Brewing

Bushy Indicas
  • Harvest leaves and terminal ends of the indica when it is about 2 feet tall as this encourages heavy bushing which in turn produces an even bigger yield of fresh indica tea leaves in a week.
  • Give the indica at least a week to rest and bush out till your next harvest. You may also take clones from the lowest, oldest branches at this time.
  • After the second harvest, give the indica a week rest period before switching to a 12/12 flowering cycle or making another harvest. You can keep a photo period indica in veg mode indefinitely.
  • When the indica is in flowering mode, take only the under growth of tender branches and leaves as seen in the picture below. These leaves are actually the tastiest and can be used like fresh parsley garnish.
  • When buds are mature. Use fresh clippings for tea brew and dry the buds for cannabutter, oils or smoking.

Tall Sativas
  • Harvest only once in veg mode and grow plant to maturity. Tall sativas do not branch as much as indicas. Over harvesting for tea brew may reduce dry bud yield.
  • When buds are mature. Use fresh clippings for tea brew and dry the buds for cannabutter, oils or smoking.

Autoflowering
  • Harvest after buds are mature. Use fresh clippings for tea brew and dry the buds for cannabutter, oils or smoking.

Inexpensive Cooking Utensils:

$10 2-Qt Slow Cooker
6Brew_on_high_heat.JPG

5-10$ Chinese Tea Infuser (at your nearest Chinese food store or online)
3Chinese_Infuser.JPG

Small Scissors
Dinner Plate
Dinner Spoon
Measuring Cup

Inexpensive, new model slow cookers tend to have only 3 settings:
Low | High | Warm

Since new model inexpensive slow cookers are designed to meet current safety standards, the temperature range when heating cooking oils like olive or coconut should be as follows:
High = 300-313 degrees Fahrenheit
Low = 200 degrees Fahrenheit
Warm = 165 degrees Fahrenheit

Bear in mind, when heating water, the temperature of the liquid will not go over 212 degrees Fahrenheit as this is the point where water becomes steam. Also, slow cookers take time to heat up. Since we are brewing in water and using a small amount of coconut oil as an extractor for cannabis compounds, the liquid will not get hotter than the boiling point of water (212f/100c) on high setting.

I bet y'all were wondering when I would get to the meat of this vegetarian brew.
Me too! I kept getting side-tracked with research.:reading420magazine:

Ingredients
8-9 grams of fresh cannabis (leaves, stems, buds)
1.5 cups of water
1 tablespoon of coconut oil

Instructions
2Scissors_chopping.JPG

Chop about 8-9 grams of freshly harvested cannabis on a dinner plate with a sharp, sterilized scissors.
:green_heart:
4Freshly_chopped_leaves.JPG

Stuff the chopped cannabis into Chinese tea infuser.
:green_heart:
5Add_coconut_oil.JPG

Add 1.5 cups of water into the slow cooker.
Place infuser into the slow cooker.
Add 1 tablespoon of coconut oil into the infuser, on top of the cannabis.
:green_heart:
6Brew_on_high_heat.JPG

Brew on high heat.
:green_heart:
7Strain_with_spoon.JPG

Check back in an hour.
Press down on the cannabis with a bent dinner spoon.
Brew for another hour and check a couple of times to
press the cannabis with a bent dinner spoon.
:green_heart:

At the end of all this slow cooker brewing, you should have a beautiful, golden olive brew to use in other recipes. This brew may be too potent to drink on its own which is why I use it with other liquids to make coffee, hot cocoa and soups.

:love::hug::love:

As for tea, you use what's left in the infuser to brew:
Fragrant Canna Jasmine Green Tea
12Tea_time.JPG

That's right! Don't toss the stuff in the infuser away yet. You can make 2 cups of mildly relaxing tea!

:slide:

Instructions for a single serving of tea:
8Infuser_to_cup.JPG

Place infuser in a tea cup.
:green_heart:
9Teabag.JPG

Place your favorite single serving tea bag into the infuser.
I'm using fragrant jasmine green tea because the slight mint
flavor of tender Blue Blood leaves with a hint of coconut
smells amazing and tastes yummy together.
:green_heart:
10Pour_water.JPG

Pour piping hot water into the infuser until the water reaches the edge of
the tea cup and steep for 3 minutes.
:green_heart:
11Lift_infuser.JPG

Lift infuser a few times in a light swishing motion of your hand.
:green_heart:
12Tea_time.JPG

:love:OMG! Tea time!
:green_heart:

You can place the infuser in a small paper lunch bag and store in the refrigerator for one more use. Just take out the old tea bag and use a new tea bag. Alternately, you can place the infuser in a ceramic tea pot, add two bags of tea into the infuser and pour 2 cups of piping hot water and brew for 3 minutes. If you require a more potent pick-me-up, add a few spoons of the slow cooker brew to your tea. Unless you used mature, high THC buds, you should not be getting high on this tea. It's just mildly relaxing.

Next post . . . recipes for the slow cooked brew . . .:yummy:

Recipes coming up . . . family recovering from a nasty bout of the flu. Sorry for the delays.

:high-five: Much better now. For a change, I recovered from the flu first. 20-something son is still dead dog sick.:rolleyes3 The cannabis medicines are rebuilding my immune system!

Hi Canabelle,
Hope you are pain free this holiday season.
Just wondering, do you have Endometrosis? Is there a site in this page that talks about medical MJ and Endometerosis?
Cheers.

Hugs Pistolero,

My mother had endometriosis 40 years ago. I had fibroids and cystic ovarian tissue some 20 years ago. Currently, I am trying to take my life back from a multi-issue, connective tissue, auto immune disorder which includes severe sun sensitivity, skin plaques, multiple partial seizures, joint pain/stiffness, kidney/intestinal/liver issues, high blood pressure, extreme fatigue/pain, short term memory loss. Got tired of being tired and unable to do artwork and horticulture and leaking out from toxic chemo and opiate meds.

According to bioidentical hormone specialist, Jeffrey Dach MD, endometriosis shares features with neoplastic cancer cells.
Although endometriosis is benign disease, it shares many of the features of cancer cells, and can be viewed as a neoplastic process. There is extensive clinical, pathologic, and molecular evidence suggesting that endometriosis is a neoplastic process with a potential for malignant transformation. Endometriosis may show up on cancer imaging with PET scanning giving a false positive scan.
Source: Endometriosis Natural Treatments by Jeffrey Dach MD - Jeffrey Dach MD

Thus, in theory, a balanced cannabis brew made with a cannabis strain like Blue Blood and and green tea should help with reduction of stray endometrium material as both green tea and cannabis have anti-cancer properties. The moderately high levels of THC helps reduce neoplastic-type cells while the CBD and myrcene terpene help with pain relief.

My mind is still a little murky from the flu meds, so I hope this post made sense. I'll post doctor Dach's research in the medical section when I can process medical information better and let you know, friend.

:green_heart:

Hi Cannabelle,
I had thought that they had similarities. Now you just confirmed it.
Where will I be able to find you in the medical section?
Just a little high thinking, maybe medical science can cure Endometereosis with RT and Chemo instead of the invasive surgery, where reoccurrence still exists.
Warm Hugs

Oh my,,, why haven't I found this sooner.... Thank you. I'll be all over this soon.....

I need to update additional recipes on this thread. I got hit by flu viruses when I first started this thread which let my auto-immune disorder get out of control. It's taken me so long to recover and get back into the kitchen!

I need to go shopping to buy the right ingredients because I don't remember off hand exactly how much stuff I used when I started this thread and took all the pictures. I don't want to frustrate people by saying a pinch of this and a splash of that. When I cook, I seldom use exact measurements, it's all by eye and smell. When writing about recipes, measurements are necessary.
