to cook with weed you need fat, the thc in the weed absorbs in the fat. grind up your weed and cook it up in some butter, oil, milk, etc on med heat on the stove. the heat will release the thc like when you smoke a bowl but instead up absorbing in your lungs it goes into the fat. after you cook it for a little you can strain out the weed cause its no good or you can just leave it in and eat it.

The amount bud you put in there depends on how much it takes you to catch a buzz.

i found that post in another thred you could of searched for it ;)

I'm not really sure how to make cannabutter. But i think you have to boil the better, and then but the weed in with it, and boil them together for a while.

You could always use the double pot method....

put the butter and weed in a pot, but place that put in another pot on the stove with water boiling.... this way, it doesnt get the direct heat from the stove...

Hope this helps!

Making Bud Butter
Melt a pound of butter in a pan. Mix 2-5 (or more grams of thoroughly sifted pot in it. Let it boil carefully a couple of minutes until the butter has gotten a green color from the grass. Then squeeze the butter through a fine strainer. While you use the strain, keep the leaves away in a corner of the pan by using a spoon. Squeeze hard to get out as much of the butter as possible.

The cooking time has varied from "a couple of minutes," as above, to 10-15 minutes from other baked epicurian masters. 10 minutes works fine for my "friends." had the best luck with a double boiler, cooked it at a medium temp for about half an hour. He used about a 1 oz of dried leaves, including sunleaves, with 2 sticks of butter (gotta be real butter). He then strained it in a small kitchen strainer and refridgerated it until it was firm. There will be a sediment on the bottom of the jar, seems to be bits of leaf and crystals of THC. He just stirred it up before he used it to cook with. If you eat the butter on crackers, be aware that it tastes AWFUL, but if you cook with it the flavor does not come through. He cooked a batch of brownies (right off the unsweetened chocolate box) with this "cannabutter", couldn't taste it at all and was pretty well wasted on 2 small brownies. (it made 24 of em)
To warm up the pan a little will make the butter flow easier. Also strain the butter that is gathered in the deeper parts of the pan. If you don't want any remaining leaves in the butter, you can strain it through some muslin. A problem concerning this is that you will loose some butter in the muslin. Don't throw the leaves, they still may* contain viable THC. The leaves can be cooked in milk or vodka and become a tasty and effective drink. Hot milk or vodka might also be poured through the muslin, thereby saving some of the hashish butter. You can fry more leaves in the same butter in you want to increase its strength.

General "word on the street" is that the bud left over after the extraction is worthless and should be thrown away... I left the comment in the recipe because boiling the used pot in milk really* does taste good. I have not experienced consuming the beverage at what might be called a "baseline," so I do not know if it has psychoactive qualities. A simpler and stronger version of the cannabis butter (or ghee)... by mixing melted butter with hashish or hashish oil instead of pot. It is not necessary to fry this as long as in the case with the pot. Just warm it up and mix it until the hashish or hashish oil is dissolved in the butter. You can put as much hashish (or hashish oil) into it as you want. Another plus is that there are no remaining leaves with THC to worry about.

I would be sure to cook the hash with the butter long enough that any alcohol or chemicals that were used in processing the hash were cooked off, especially if using hash oil. Cook it until any alcohol or chemical smell is entirely gone.

thanx guys im gunna make some then im gunna have me some toast

i will for sure

what?

this works great:
put your weed inside a mesh pouch (had great results with stems and leafs this way) take some open but fine weave synthetic fabric (nylon and polyester don't absorb the thc) like tulle or anything that water runs right through, and sew it shut. Use 1/4 oz. or more depending on the weed
put it in a big pot of water with a pound of butter or margarine
slowly simmer for about an hour (thats just under a boil, friends)
use a heavy utensil to submerge the pouch of weed to the bottom of the pot
turn off the heat and let it cool
put in fridge until butter congeals on top
skim and drain butter onto paper towel
use in your favorite recipe - cookies, pasta, pesto, toast, anywhere you use butter!
made some "Trippin" good cookies this way!
The trick is to keep it at a simmer, don't boil. The weed will be worthless afterward, throw it away.

exactly how mush weed and butter wud u need for a batch of brownies?

why strain out the weed? if you use buds, and not trimmings, it gets nice and tasty.. and the bud chunks have this texture that I just love... just simmer the bud in the butter for 15... then use it all for whatever recipe you use... just use however much butter is in the recipe (remember, a little extra butter never really hurt anyone... in the short run at least...)

Marijuana butter
The most convenient way to use and store marijuana for cooking is to make marijuana butter, which can be cut into pieces and ziploc bagged for freezing and later used in cooking of all kinds. Here is the basic recipe:
1 lb. of butter (no margarin)
1/2 ounce of marijuana BUD
(or 1 ounce of shake or 2 ounces of leaf or 3 ounces of stems)
***For the best results dry your marijuana well***
DIRECTIONS;
Place marijuana and butter in crockpot. It is convenient to cook 3 or 4 pounds of butter at one time in a standard size crockpot. However, for smaller amounts, small crockpots are available for cooking only one pound of butter, or less.
Heat butter and marijuana together in the crockpot on the lowest setting for 24 hours. When cool enough to handle, pour through the double layer of cheesecloth lined strainer into the large bowl. Twist pulp in the double layer of cheesecloth to get out all the liquid butter you can. Yummie..... pour into ceramic or glass dish for cooling. Refrigerate to quicken cooling. When cool cut into large pieces, place green butter in large ziploc bag for freezing.
NOTE: it is a tradition to use the lowest grades of leaf or shake or even stems for baking and save the marijuana for smoking. However, experience has revised our view of baking and eating therapy. Now we use only high-grade indica leaf from the colas of plants, or dry bud of the best quality we can obtain. The quality, strength and endurance of the marijuana you use in your baking will come through in the effects experienced with eating therapy. Use only 1 ounce of shake or 1/2 ounce of bud per lb. butter, since these will be stronger than leaf. Amounts are approximate, since much is determined by the variance in strength of the marijuana used, as well as the strength of effect you wish to achieve. experiment.
Now you have a quantity of marijuana butter. It will keep a long time in the freezer and you can use it just as you would use any butter in any recipe for cookies, brownies, muffins, gingerbread, spicecake, zucchini bread, banana nut loaf, pie, or recipes of all kinds, or enjoy it straight, in tiny amounts (approximately 1 tsp. per dose) on your bagel or toast, on your pancakes or with your eggs and English muffin. Use your imagination!

THC Honey Butter

This Honey Butter is verry tasty melted over a morning muffin or simply spread some on toast, and it is sooo easy to make.
Here it is don't blink--

Inghredients;
1/4 cup Medicated Butter (softened)
3/4 cup unsalted butter (softened)[YOU CAN LEAVE THIS OUT FOR POTANT STUFF]
1 cup Honey
Directions;
First mix the medicated and the unsalted butters together then slowly add the honey until well mixed.
I like to use my kitchen aid mixer, but you can do the mixing by hand if the butters have been softened enough

Cannabis Butter

(CannaButter) Recipe

CannaButter is something that many people would love to know how to make.

Well, to be honest it is quite simple! However, you want to do it right as you're using material that is not necessarily ideal to waste. If done properly using this recipe you can maximize the quality and quantity of the CannaButter you make.So to start we will begin by listing some of the things you are going to need...

**Proper Clothing Is a MUST. When you have fats and water together they tend to be very volatile and burning your arms is not a part of this recipe. So please use HOT GLOVES and long sleeves as you may or may not accidentally burn yourself.**

Materials you will need:
- A strong grinder to grind the Cannabis material.
- A stove to heat the CannaButter.
- A medium sized heavy duty sauce pan/pot with lid. It's important to have the pot the same size as the element that it is on to ensure even heat distribution.
- A measuring cup.
- A whisk or a large fork to mix the material with the water/butter solution in the pot.
- Cheese cloth to strain the material before cooling.
- A bowl large enough to hold and cool the CannaButter material.
- A space in your refrigerator to cool and separate the water from butter.
- A heavy duty plastic wrap to handle and compress the CannaButter into a smaller, easier to handle shape.
- A freezable container to store the material
- A space in your freezer to store the finished product.

Please Make sure you have all these things before you begin and have them set aside as you will need them immediately during and at the end of the CannaButter making process.

Note:
To make a strong CannaButter you will need to adjust the amount of Cannabis you use in accordance with the strength of butter you would like. It is not recommended to make weak CannaButter or reduce the Cannabis:Butter ratio as you may feel "ripped off" after you've tried the butter.
This recipe will make about 350g of medium-grade strength CannaButter.
Remember you will have a small loss when handling the material.

So with that being said,

Ingredients you will need:
- 1lbs of unsalted butter.
- 2cups of water.
- 1 ounce of premium, middle or low grade Cannabis. Obviously the better product you use the better the butter will be.

That's it!
Okay, Now go get your shit together and let's cook!

To Prepare:
We'll begin by grinding the Cannabis material very very fine. Way beyond the extent that you would grind it if you were smoking it. Make your Cannabis a fine powder. Using an electric coffee grinder dedicated to the purpose of grinding Cannabis or cleaning one VERY, VERY well. It's suggest buying a rinky dink coffee grinder if you do not have one as cutting the Cannabis with scissors or grinding it with a space case grinder will not make the Cannabis fine enough.
You basically want a bowl of very, very fine Cannabis material.

Cooking:
Bring 2cups of water to a covered boil. Once the water is boiling, add your butter and melt it in the water. Once the butter is melted, reduce the heat to a very low setting so that when covered the CannaButter will simmer but not boil. We will now add the ground Cannabis material to the water and butter solution...Once you add the Cannabis powder you will whisk and mix it into the pot thoroughly, so that there are no clumps and nothing stuck to the bottom. Now that you've made sure there are no clumps in the solution, place the lid on the pot and leave the heat on a minimum temperature.
The CannaButter is now ready to simmer and cook for 22-24 hours. This amount of time is important. It is required to extract the THC from the finely ground Cannabis. However, you do not want to cook the CannaButter any longer than 24 hours. NO MORE THAN 24 HOURS. After 24 hours the THC will degrade and the butter will go bitter.
During this 24 hour cooking period you will need to check on the CannaButter every few hours to ensure that the boil is not to strong and to ensure that the butter has not reduced to much. If you find the solution reducing faster than expected it does not hurt to add a few table spoons of water over the 24 hour period.

Extraction:
Once you have simmered the CannaButter for long enough, turn the heat off.
Let the solution sit for 2-4 minutes and remove it from the heat.

USE APPROPRIATE CLOTHING AS THIS IS WHERE YOU CAN BURN YOURSELF...in other words.. don't do this next step in your boxers.

You are now ready to extract the used Cannabis material from the CannaButter solution..
Place the cheese cloth over an open bowl and ensure that when the liquid is poured through the cheese cloth will not go with it. The idea here is to strain the solution using the cheese cloth so that you will not have bits of cannabis in the solution. Most of the THC is extracted by now. Once the solution has been strained through the cheese cloth and the material collected, you will have a solution in a bowl and cheese cloth full of soggy Cannabis material.
Squeeze and extract as much of the solution from the cheese cloth and material as possible. The butter solution is what you want, not the bi-product
which is the soggy Cannabis.
Remove as much of the solution as possible into the bowl.

Cooling:
Place the bowl with the CannaButter solution into your reserved space in your refrigerator and let it cool for a few hours, even overnight. This process will separate the fats from the water. The fat being our CannaButter. During this process you will be able to see the progress of the butter as it cools, much like watching Jell-o go firm. However, you want to let it sit long enough to ensure the complete separation of the fats from the water.

Removing Your Butter and Storing:
Removing the butter from the bowl may seem a bit tricky...but will be considerably less messy if you use the Heavy duty plastic wrap to handle the now solid butter. Simply remove enough plastic and use it like a doggy bag to remove the top slab of CannaButter from the bowl. Pat dry the CannaButter to remove any excess water. Now use the plastic wrap to compress the CannaButter into a smaller more manageable size. Store in a freezable, airtight container or mason jar.
Note:
Depending on the amount of CannaButter you make, it may be better to use a slotted spoon or spatula instead of your hands.

KEEP FROZEN AT ALL TIMES.
If kept frozen the butter will not go bad or lose any potency before you get around to using it.
The butter will melt quickly once it warms up.. so handle it quickly and keep it in the freezer as much as possible.
And that's it! Now go lick clean some utensils and enjoy your CannaButter
