the best thing to do is just personally do your meds in a way that doesnt offend your neighbors.
now smoking a joint on the porch is way better than a pipe or a bong, i smoke joints like cigs so it looks normal to any who may see me

I would suggest everyone who holds a med card or is interested in becoming a card carrying member (or a caregiver) to read through Amendment 20 thoroughly (Colorado) or the laws and regs in your state if you live in one that allows medical cannabis. There is a lot of literature out there regarding the rules/policy's/regs/laws, etc surrounding this issue and it's all our responsibility to be educated citizens. IMO asking here if you are allowed to smoke on your porch is already way too late. Do your due diligence to not only protect yourself but all the other medical users out there as noted by Racefan above.
