same methodstemp in a dwc are not as crutial in the begining i deffinatly understand what you are saying but there is nothing i can do and most do not have the amount of oxygen running through there water i can garentee that my oxygen saturation is peaked. lol good looknig out man thanks a bunch nice to know people are there watching your back, anyways like i said i think her starting soon i will be adding ice every day or adding a 8-12oz water bottle prefrozento each bucket twice a dayand also fully washed and sanitised twice a day to make sure no cross contamination. well all and all day 15 of veg went well

Did someone tell you this? Or did you read this somewhere? I ask because this is the exact opposite of everything I have ever read, heard and learned through trial-and-error. Although slightly elevated temps encourage better seed germination and initial root development, at three weeks in, maintaining high res temps is just asking for trouble. So, if dropping some frozen bottles in there can help bring things down, then be all means, proceed ASAP.
Quote:
![]() According to science it is impossible that you have your Dissolved Oxygen 'peaked' if your temps are @ 27C. I provided a simple graph extracted from an Introductory Chemistry text to illustrate what I am talking about. It is simply not physically possible for oxygen in aqueous solution to be as dissolved @ 27 degrees as it is at lower temps. The current consensus is that ~18C is optimal. In addition, as solution temperatures rise, the micro-organisms present actually require more oxygen. Higher temperatures increase metabolic rates and more oxygen is required as a result. Unfortunately, this is kind of a double whammy, but the bad kind. The microbial strains you're adding to your res are being exposed to higher temps and they want more oxygen, but can't get it as a result of less oxygen being available because of that same high temperature. Eventually, the microbes burn themselves out and just leave that sludge you're seeing. Sadly, I know all this from experience. Quote:

ok let me phrase it like this at an degree of tempature there is a certin percentage of maximum oxygen saturation (i have a couple charts too) ex, so if at 27C my oxygen % is right around 7.8-8.1% what i was saying for that temp i am to the max on oxygen saturation(i have peaked 8.1) it is not as crutial because the roots are not that big requiring less oxygen they are doing great i will keep the journal updated. Andy are you fimilure with DIFFUSERS(lee's wood ones are famous)? I ask becuause most people use regular air stone and not getting the oxygen they should be gettingmaybe i willl try to post a video or somthing or the supersuper fine bubbles

Good luck with the rez temps. It is for that reason I prefer ebb and flow over DWC.

Take a look at this thread:DIY Ghetto-Fab Chiller under $20
I thought this was a grand idea for a low cost method to keep nutrient solution/reservoir temperatures down. |

PAchamama,
You have been PMed. I checked Craigslist for water cooler and could easily find ones being sold for $35. So many small businesses are selling off stuff cheap which is a boon to the DIYer.

OK RES CHANGE
To each 5 gal jug 32ml of sensi A and 32ml of sensi B were added 1 gram each of prihana and trantula, and 100ml of B-52. Iadded 2 1/2 gallons to each of the four buckets after cleaning and starilizing each of them. the end result was 1120 ppm in each bucket and ph was at 6.4 waited 6 hours as recamended by manufacture and set PH to 5.7-5.8. everything is al well at days 21 in VEG posting pics sOON.
