Mr Teddy's Greek Indoor Grow - Indicas - Soil - LEDs

Welcome to my second journal.

I am an Englishman living in Greece. This region is where they say the gods themselves took their holidays. This summer I attempted my first ever cannabis grow, outside of course, and thanks to the fabulous 420 cavalry, ended up with a harvest with which the Teddy household is very happy.

Now autumn is deeply here, and whilst my last, beautiful plant fights the wind and rain to finish outside, one's thoughts turn to a winter harvest.

You are most welcome to My Greek Indoor Grow.

There will I can promise you be tragedy and comedy, tears and laughter. And in the fifth act, not wishing to ruin the ending (*spoiler alert*), there will be buds. The interesting thing is how we get there. And I hope, as I did this summer, to learn a great deal from you all.

Shall we get the formalities out of the way?

What strain is it? 1 Blueberry, 1 Mazar, 1 Master Kush

Is it Indica, Sativa or Hybrid? What percentages? All Indica; Blueberry has 20% Sativa. I was advised by that great guru here, OldManMed, that Indicas are best for what I want to try — topping and LST. (Mrs Teddy thinks I will be very good at this because, she says, I can be very fussy and precise. I'm sure I don't know what she means. Really. That was so rude.)

Is it in Veg or Flower stage? My God, man. They're seeds, they're seeds.

If in Veg... For how long? I've told you already.

If in Flower stage... For how long? Stop asking me.

Indoor or outdoor? O for Heaven's sake, read the tread title.

Soil or Hydro? OK. Sensible question. Soil.

If soil... what is in your mix? Remember, I'm in the middle of Eden which does not have shops selling fancy stuff like Yum Yum and Mexican Bat Guarno. Nor does it allow imports. Seeds will be in a commercial, organic, premium potting compost mixed with plenty of perlite. When potted on I shall detail my veg soil mix. I am trying to follow PeeJay's soil principles and whilst without access to the actual branded stuff, I can at least attempt to replicate the idea.

If soil... What size pot? Airpots as recommended by Lembatoast. (Great, great journal). 12.5litre. (About 4 US gallons.)

Size of light? Seedlings are under the 4 biggest CFLs I could find here — x2 40W and x2 30W. Daylight spectrum at 6,400K. I read that seedlings can have problems under the intensity of LEDs. So once they are robust it will be on with the PlantinumLED P450. If it ever clears customs. Without a police escort.

Is it aircooled? Cooling will not be necessary, Captain. Heating will be.

Temp of Room/cab? I've been running the tent empty whilst germinating to start to get a grip on the environment. So far it's been easy to keep a constant 24C (75F) at 45% RH. As I understand it, these figures are in the right range.

RH of Room/cab? Aren't you listening? I just told you. That's it. I'm saying nothing else until my lawyer gets here.

PH of media or res? Here I follow Relaxed Lester amongst others and just don't worry about it directly. The right soil is the right soil. And I bring the water up from the mountain spring of St. Haralambos. (Older readers know this story.)

Any Pests ? Yes. Two adopted Nazi Greek kittens. They think the tent is their new toy. What fun it is patting those hanging CFLs. It's all so shiney. Mr Teddy was so nice to buy this for us.

How often are you watering? Hey, they're seedlings. Shouldn't that be "How little are you watering?"

Type and strength of ferts used? We'll deal with that at the appropriate time. Now get me my lawyer.

Details of tent set up with pics tomorrow.

FOOTNOTE: Just checked under the plate to water the seeds. All 3 are showing a cheeky little tap-root. Tonight we sleep and tomorrow we pot.

:passitleft: thanks ;) Subbed, somebody else want a go :passitleft:

... *puff* ... made in on the first page! :thumb:

Hey, look who just rolled in. The LED master and fellow poetry fan. Hooray and Huzzah. I was hoping you'd make it, Gray, and have kept a chaise-longue and a :hookah: for you next to the lights. Going to need your expertise. :welcome::high-five::circle-of-love:

G'day my antipodean friend. I'm very lucky - you'll find it's a classy crowd in here. You'll fit right in.
:welcome::ciao:

Dry Martinis, anyone? Mrs Teddy has a shaker full ready.

LOL, I was thinking of my own plebian favorite attitude adjustment beverage, such beverage being an integral feature of a favorite movie as well, and then I remembered your reference to the chaise lounge ... heheh ... are you perchance familiar with the works of the Coen Brothers, in particular a character by the name of "The Dude? :laughtwo:

I drink a nice fat White Russian before dinner when I can, otherwise known as a "Caucasian".

... yeah, I could see me playing The Dude. :blunt:

Kali Spera Mr. Teddy...wouldn't miss this for anything, well almost anything. :bravo: :circle-of-love:

WOW. The quality crowd just got the OMM cherry on top. :slide::welcome: OMM. Now don't go getting poorly on me. I'll need your help here.
:ciao:

THE KIT

Okey dokey. Before we, I trust, go green I'd better outline the simple kit.

One Secret Jardin Dark Room tent, 120x120x200cm. Looks well made, solid fabric construction. A little light escapes through the zips, so a little light will enter, but it's only a glint. Here you can just about make out that the sides are sucked in with the fan working - passive air intake - so that seems to be doing the job too.

The extractor fan is an RVK 125 A1 225 m3/h. Hope that means something to you. It did to me when I worked out the tent capacity, but I've forgotten now.

The air exits into a handy flue and second chimney on the house, actually built for a stoba, a traditional wood-burning stove. The ducting is the only element that enters Mrs Teddy's quilt studio. She was copacetic about it. Here's a picture of ducting going into a flue. Fascinating, eh? Lordy, I'm already missing the outdoor photos. This picture is so dull it could be art. I'm going to have to think of a way to make these pics more interesting. Oh, I know, I could grow some plants.

A simple old convection heater of ours with thermostat and a floor fan.

Temp / RH reader of course. Placed near a window so I can reach it without opening the door.

And as I said, lighting is currently x2 40W and x2 30W CFLs to see the girls through seedling stage. Still no sign of the LEDs. DHL tracking says they are on their way from Athens to Thessoloniki. We are half way between the two. I better get to the motorway and flag down the DHL van.

THE GARDENING

So the three seeds popped last night. This is the bit I love. Mixed good, organic potting soil with plenty of perlite, moistened the filled pots (actually just left them out in the pouring rain for 10 mins) and in went the little ladies.

And into their brand new home.

So I've set the lights onto a 18/6 schedule, about 4 inches above the pots. Not hot on the hand at all. I'm hoping that someone here will shout at me if I'm doing a wrong about anything. Please.

Thanks to everyone who has helped me so much so far. Even to all those anonymous growers here whose back journals I've read.

Here we go....:cheesygrinsmiley:

Pip Pip!

Just make sure those little Ladies are warm enough, Mr. T. Great setup. Well done ! :Namaste:
:cheer:OMM Really feel safer about this with you around. :) Temp in the tent is 23 to 24C - that's 75-77F in good old English money.

And I don't know if the thrill will ever pass, but Mazar has just popped a shoulder through the soil. Let's grow!
:circle-of-love:

Bravo Teddy. :bravo: What a nice start to growing indoors. :passitleft:
:thanks: JL. I know you know what you're doing indoors too. Thank God I've got The Doctor here. :high-five:

Καλησπέρα Mr.Teddy! great setup and excellent choise of strains. i am fairly new here and in the growing art in general, but my eyes are open wide and my mind is ready to soak up any valuable information i get from you PRO growers.

From one Greek grower to another, i wish you the best yields you can get with no trouble in your ladies whatsoever!

Subscribed for awesomeness!
:goodjob:

Once again.....you are going to love the Mazar you have sprouted, Mr. Teddy. :bravo:

Aloha, Comic Sans Man. :thanks: :circle-of-love:

Actually, I'm loving her already. This is what I found when I opened the tent at 'daylight' today.....

And Master Kush now also shouldering her way through:

No Blueberry showing yet, but when I planted her the seed flipped over and I didn't want to mess her root around, so I'll just let her find out herself which way is up.

I love these tiny ones, all full of genetic knowledge to do remarkable things. I hope. :laughtwo:

Pip Pip!
 Mr Teddy
