Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

This will be an attempt to get some trees from (5) Pineapple Chunk & (5) Blue Dream. May add Widow soon. Started with seed in cheap plastic planters, put seed in mix and left to work out of town 2 weeks. Came back to all ten popped. Transplanted on saturday to individual pots. will probably have to transplant to 5 gallon buckets if I can't get the holes finished next time I'm home, 2 more weeks. Would like to have holes sit for a month we'll see, may go direct into hole. Just been to damn wet here to dig holes since december.

Bucket Size - 1 gallon will go in 27" diameter x 24" deep holes
Medium - MiracleGro Moisture Control Potting Mix (45-55% sphagnum peat, coir, perlite 21-11-16 fertilizer)
Outdoors Deep South
Nutrients - Advanced Nutrients Micro & Bloom
Strain(s) - Blue Dream, Pineapple Chunk
# of Plants: 5 (ea)
Seeds - OASeeds

I have been a long time away from growing, started a late summer outdoor last July, a small closet this winter and now hope to have a few large outdoor plants to harvest come fall. I have learned much here @ 420, very informative, unlike some of the other sites where they just rattle bs about how you should do it their way, blah, blah bs. I work 2 weeks away from home and one week back so it's gonna be lots of anticipation and hopeful expectations while away at work, I will post pics as I return home whether good or bad. Wish me luck and here's wishing everyone a good start to your spring crop.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

what do you think this yellowing is from, seems to be Mg def?

First saw it this morning on 2 plants, now on third. Plants were transplanted 3 days ago, same mix, water was poured in to runoff to remove air from medium. No nutes added yet other that the fertz already added in potting mix.

Leaving to go back to work in 2 days hoping to see them thriving before departing.

maybe a touch of Advanced Nutrients Micro?

Thanks in advance for ur comments/suggestions

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

in their new spot, yellowing on the three seems to be fading away as the day goes by. It was cold last night, 49 anyway & I left 'em out. Yeah I know, I'm a rough parent but trying to toughen 'em up for the real world out there.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

some new pics of the babies, only one of the 3 that had the yellowing 3 days ago has some now, however three new ones have gotten it and the other two have returned to normal. I am getting some ideas that my potting mix is releasing nutes at different times in different pots so as I go along I hope to learn to work with this good sprouting, readily available, affordable mix. My pots are 6 days from big water soak & transplant,

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

on a side note, I buy the $3 ten pack tomato kit with expandable pellets from Dollar Gen Store to start my seeds then when the pop I put the pellets in these cheap planters with my potting mix and have been having great success for the 2nd year now.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

Updating 8 days since last post. Began by foliar spraying with epsom salts 1 teaspoon to a gallon and adding some to soil less mix. Also added 2 mil of iron chelate twice in a week to mix. 2 days ago I transplanted from 1 gallon to 2.5 gallons. My soil ph meter came in and instead of checking runoff I was able to check mix and found a high ph of 7.0-7.2 before transplanting. Used a combo of 2/3 distilled water with 1/3 well water from tap, added 2 tablespoons chelated iron and 2 tablespoons epsom to 5 gallons. Brought water solution down to 5.5 with "ph down" and used sta-green potting mix in new pots. Old mix was pretty hot IMHO using the MGPM (21-11-16), Sta-Green (10-8-6). This will be the last transplant before going in their holes (3-4 weeks) which I have finished last week with a mixture of Sta-Green, Mushroom Compost, and some extra perlite. All but one of these girls (a Blue Dream) is coming around fine and growing well. I have topped them all one time also. We had tornados all around last night and heavy straight line winds, they held up good, though 3 of the 5 Skunk haze week old seedlings were found with their leaves planted in the dirt this am, I pulled them out and they too looked good at days end. Anyway, since I only had a couple of folks wanting to help me out I've been being patient and treating for Iron & Sulfur deficiencies, albeit lightly, and more likely than not it was all due to the high soil ph of 7.2. Now all pots are between 5.8 and 6.3. Weird how my well water is 7.0 with 375 ppm to a gallon vs my rainwater which is 7.8 with very little ppm (maybe 10), makes a good mix anyway.

so now for some pics, I had 7 of the 10 with pretty heavy signs of yellowing now only one, appears to not cure old damage only not showing up in new growth.

Thank Jah for sunshine coming the next couple of days finally!!! :Rasta:

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

On another note I'm anxiously awaiting another order from OASeeds of 11 Autos- some Green Crack (my fav so far) and Satori:

White Widow Automatic - Seeds : 1 feminizadas
Sweet Skunk Automatic - Seeds : 2 feminizadas
AUTO CHEMDOG - Seeds : 3 feminized
Auto Critical Hog - Seeds : 5 feminized
Green Crack - Seeds : 5 feminized
Satori - Seeds : 10 regular

also ordered a drone with camera to survey my holes to see what it looks like from above, check plants etc. Can't wait to try it out! :shhh:

Love to hear everyones input on all of these and any particulars concerning their likes and dislikes.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

well I got called to work out of the blue for 2 weeks, had to move the PC and BD out into the grassy field in the 2.5 gallon pots until I get home and can get them in their holes. As it were, I was going to wait another 10 days anyway in hopes they would have good roots (almost root bound) before putting them into the holes. The transplant and epsom with small dosages of iron chelated) has helped immensely along with bring soil ph down to 6.0 +/- .2. I soaked them good put some snail and slug bait out along with ant bait. Hopefully the deer don't eat them and we get a good rain in the next 5-7 days. I'll be worrying and wondering 'bout my baby girls till I return home.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

Hi Captainblast. I just found your thread. I would love to be able to grow outdoors but not an option for me. After seeing the deer stand, old Ford truck and the rum and Coke you had me hooked..haha

Do you have a way to protect them from deer when you put them out in their holes?

Sounds like some fun genetics and you have a good start.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

Thanks for stooping by GettoGro! I have let them grow as there is lots of new growth around here now and the deer hopefully have better choices. I had hoped to get them a bit larger but had to leave in a rush for two weeks. When I get back I will put a wire around them to try and keep the deer off unless they surprise me and haven't been molested too bad. We have loads of deer here so we'll see, last year the strategy worked for me though I started very late in the summer and only had a small yield.I put my little ones under the deer stand in the cage and move these out, and that rum was good, can't believe I drank the whole thing. Going to be a long two weeks worrying bout my babies for sure, but if we get a good rain next week should be a-ok.

:high-five: on the Dirty South

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

Back from two week stint out of town @ work. Not a drop of rain here, got out and gave them some water and a lite feeding yesterday then it rained last night just a little though. Going to transplant into the ground in next day or two before having to leave for another two weeks. I was of course worried about the animals, bugs and such, mad my bug and snail barriers around the pots and hoped to come back to all 10. Happyily surprised I was, have a couple of leaves on one PC that got some bug damage and that's it.

re: Outdoor Pineapple Chunk & Blue Dream

Welcome home Capt'! I can imagine having leaving my indoor grow for 2 weeks. I understand why you are going outdoors. THey look ready to take off.

Hate them redbugs. I had to scratch my balls just thinking of them :(

WIth some good dirt and "deer-proofing" they should produce well in your climate. Have you looked into Wolf/Cayote urine to spray around your plants? It is supposed to detour deer, rabbits etc...

Keep'em green and rockin!
