Man... watching these babies grow must feel like fatherhood in some way... it's like they're growing too fast for me to enjoy watching them grow. lol It's sad to know they'll be smoked in less than 2 months, but damn I'm going to enjoy it! Well anyway, they're all mostly sativa dominant as you can plainly see. I really don't remember the quality of the seeds that I saved and planted some years later, but I'm sure growing your own plant from bagseed in excellent conditions can fool you into thinking you actually bought some high quality beans. Heh, I even snipped a few leaves off, dried them, ground 'em up and tossed it in a joint. The high was mostly cerebral, but it had me couch-locked there for a little while. It was a good thinking high... a high that I enjoy the most. Now if the leaves have this effect on me, I can't fricken wait to enjoy the bud from these suckers. I'm satisfied with the quality of these dank plants already. Now I just have to wait for the smelly buds to get bigger. That's the grueling part. It's.. picture time! Here is Shorty, who isn't quite that short anymore. Some of her bottom leaves were wilting from being root bound so I had to snip-snip. I also transplanted her into a (cleaned) cat-litter bucket with holes I drilled into the bottom and an inch above the bottom on the sides... hey, don't hate, it serves the purpose well! With everything that she has been through (if you remember I snapped her in half at about the 2 week stage of her life, took her awhile to recoop), she sure is a damn good looking plant. --- Here's a shot of Leslie and Maria (yes, she had a legal name change)... they are damn pretty... and will only get prettier. --- A side-view of two of Leslie's arms... for some reason instead of just branching out into two tops (after topping) she managed to convince two other arms to act like tops as well. So she has 4 equally thick and sick bud-producing appendages. --- A closer view of Leslie's arms with buds all over. --- Bud shots [1] A sick bud shot from Leslie. This thing's gonna be fat. - [2] I believe this is a shot of one of Maria's buds. Maria doesn't seem to be as dank as Leslie, or she just might require a longer harvest time to reach her full danky potential. - [3] Mmm, wonderful shot of a bud from Leslie. You can tell on the pic some of the hairs are turning amber... lovely! - [4] I bet you can guess which plant this pic is showing. I love this pic. Even the leaves are getting frosty! --- Well, I didn't have alot of time to spend with the girls today. I'll try to get in there later to take some more bud shots and update for ya. But now... back to the books. Laters

And simply for your viewing pleasure. Here ya go...
That's all for now! I'll try to take pictures at least every week. Heh, I like making a slideshow of pictures from the same bud at different times to watch it slowly get bigger and bigger... so I'll always have more pics for ya. Lates

Today I noticed that my timer isn't clicking off, so for the last day and who knows how long before I noticed, it's been getting 24 hours light. Not too good. I'm going to either try to fix it later or buy a new one. It was a cheap 8 dollar one... I'll probably get a digital one this time. I can't stress my plants out like this...
I was wondering why they weren't getting any bigger the last few days. :(

Update time!
Been awhile, but I've since been studying medical terminology and had a liver biopsy... so I haven't had much time to spend with the plants, except for feeding/watering. I did happen to get a digital timer, so now I'm certain I won't stress out the plants anymore with fluctuating light schedules. I found some mold in the soil of Shorty's container, so I, freaking out, just decided to cut her up. I figured she wasn't going to harvest much anyway, and I just didn't have the space for her to get adequate light. I did get 3 or 4 grams from her, and I dried it out next to a fan in my closet after trimming. She is a pretty decent smoke, even though she was about a month or two immature. Not quite dank, but an enjoyable high nonetheless. She had been through so much - I had faith in her pulling through. Ah well, shit happens. Hopefully after curing she'll taste a bit better and become a bit more potent. I threw a dehumidifier in there to hopefully rid the room of mold. I don't know much about mold... this mold is white, and just pretty much on the dirt. Does mold damage the roots or ruin a harvest? While kowing it's unhealthy to ingest mold itself, does mold carry through the plant's structure and inhabit the tissues of the plant? If it does, is there any harm in drying the bud out to toke? Does mold die if you smoke it? I don't know this shit. I tried searching the forums but with no avail. Any way to kill the mold without harming the plants? The other two plants are fine and budding quite beautifully. Trichomes are everywhere on the plant: buds, leaves, and stem. They're sticky to the touch and it's getting quite smelly in the grow room. I'd say that about 15-20% of the hairs are turning amber, so still we have quite a ways to go. I believe these particular strains take quite awhile to reach their ripening peaks, as alot of sativas do. So.. we'll be here awhile. But shit yo, it's fun watching these things get dankier and dankier. As expected, it's picture time! Here you can see the trichomes inflitrating the plant all over. So damn sexy. lol Mmm, I love this pic. The pic just doesn't do the plant justice though. They are about 4 days into week 4 of flowering. I added some Foxfarm nutes yesterday, 3/4 strength. I seemed to over fertilize last time using full strength. Been watering about every 2 days now... they seem to use that water right up. I spray 'em in the mornings and they seem to like it. They are still under a fan and have been for most of their grow. The stems are definitely quite sturdy and will be able to hold up the not-so-big, but ever-so-potent buds. I'm surprised how good they look after all the stress I induced early on in their lives.

Well, I recieved my 1000w HPS ballast today. It came with a reflector and fan. I will most likely go out tomorrow or browse online for some bulbs, which I thought I bought already. Can't wait to hook that shit up. I might need to go get some bigger chains as well.
On another note, Shorty seems to be curing quite well... I got 6 grams of dried bud off of her, which is much more than I expected. I rolled up a gram blunt just now to taste test her. I will let ya know how that goes. The buds are not as dense as I had hoped, but she was immature by at least a month/month and a half. Decent turn-out for a gimp-ass plant. Leslie and Maria's buds... oh man. They are getting dense as hell and trichome production seems to be up full-blast. They are looking so beautiful. Possibly later tonight I will have a little photo session before the lights kick out. That's it for now... I'll be back later.

Mwahaha... thought I got caught by the man, didn't ya?
Well, alot has happened sice I last posted. I smoked just about all of the buds these plants produced, except for about 10-15 grams that I've been curing for awhile. Just now starting to smoke 'em, and god damn... a few months' cure sure does enrich the taste and smoke. Anything more than that and it seems they start to lose their potency/rich flavor. I am now starting up 4 seedlings, 3 of which are from some near-seedless dank I bought a little while ago. The other one is from a plant I found behind my girlfriend's house (she doesn't smoke), which happened to be pretty dank smokin'. It's funny 'cause if you go by where the plant was, there were 3 more stumps of mary jane, obviously from someone cutting them down and harvesting. I have an idea of who the culprit was, because her dad all of a sudden goes down by the garage and listens to music for a few hours at a time. We normally go down there and drink, but I think he's doing more than just drinking. ![]() Anyways, for light I am using (6) 30W Daylight Extra CFLs (compact flouros/coils), and (4) 4' 40W Daylight Flouros for the vegetation cycle; and for the flowering cycle I am going to use the 1000W HPS, and if I have the room I will add another 400W HPS lampstand in there. The growroom is the whole laundry room in the basement that has long since seen any laundry.. it's kind of cool in there, so I may have to hook some kind of heater up in there. For soil I am using Miracle Grow potting mix (the one that feeds plants up to 2 months or so?).. and for ferts I haven't even decided yet. Foxfarms organic flowering mix served me well the last grow, so I'm opted to try 'em again. The really big difference with this grow is that the plants are actually recieving adequate blue spectrum light... the last grow was with a plain ol' 400W HPS. And god damn I can tell the difference one week in. The lil' things look like they are sunbathing, leaves flattened out just soaking up those blue rays. They look healthier than the ones I had 4 weeks in last grow. The problem this time is that my digital camera is MIA... but I promise that once I find it you will enjoy what you see even moreso than last grow. :D Well, it's good to be back... -waddles off to read more journals-
