Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
I was wondering what your nutes were like? You seem to have it spot on and id like to replicate your grow to the best of my ability. I dont understand the complexity of the nute schedule for hydro, yet. Your setup seems viable and cheap and the product has been shown to be great. Great job and any nute pointers would be appreciated, Strat. You inspired me to create a grow box with your construction and im hoping you can do it again.

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
Hey Shifty420, eventually the roots fill up the CD lid and overflow to the bottom. The roots that are suspended give the plant an aeroponic effect allowing more oxygen to get to the roots while the roots in the CD lid and eventually the bottom of the bucket have a DWC (deep water culture) thing going on. Also there's a sort of NFT (nutrient film technique) effect from the overflow of the nutrients from the CD lid that I think helps too. When designing the bucket, I took what I thought were the best elements from three common methods of hydro and combined them into one. You can be the judge of what you think really contributed or not but for the moment, I don't think I am going to change anything the next time around.
Here's a pic of my roots at harvest HHGreenHand - Actually, I got a little crazy when the plant really started sucking up water and gave the plant some bad nutrient burn. But for the most part I would mix in about 6tsp to 2 gallons of water per week. Once the plant was sucking up more that two gallons per week, I would add 3 tsp for every gallon of water more I had to add per week and thats where I went wrong I believe. When the plant starting taking off during the stretch of the second cycle, I would add 8 tsp of both the A and B to two gallons and then just plain water for the rest of the week. But in the end, I have learned there is no substitute for experience. Even though this was my first harvest, I learned a lot that will help my next time around. Just go for it! I hope this helps. |

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
As for the smoke report, I am going to let it cure some more, but until then, it still smells like hay until I break it up, then it smells skunky. However, when I went to work the other day to hand out sample-grams to my fellow co workers, my backpack reeked of the skunk and everyone said it looked dank to them. We all smoke a bit so I took it as a bit of a compliment, but then again, anything free is always that much better I suppose. But I have definitely noticed progress and it does indeed get me really high but I think it could be better. Not to say it sucks or anything. For example, I harvested early to get a clear high but if I smoke too much, I have found myself staring into space for brief moments while my brain catches up and there are definite couch-lock qualities. haha. But at the moment, I have been smoking the lesser quality nugs allowing the choice nugs to reach their full potential and so far it was all well worth the wait. I'll be posting a full smoke report with opinions from my panel of smokers.

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
I feel that 2ft x 2ft was just enough for one plant. I wouldn't try anything smaller per plant if you are looking to grow about the same size plant I did. I suppose you could squeeze more plants if you vegged them shorter. Just remember the plants will double to triple in size when you switch cycles.

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
I started a new grow doing the exact same thing as the last one. However this time around I learned a few things from the last grow.
First off, I mellowed out with the nutes during the second cycle when she started sucking up water like a champ. I only add 3 tsp of SensiBloom A and 3 tsp of Sensibloom B per gallon. I have been adding 2 gallons of nute solution once a week and top off with r/o water to hold off untill the next feeding. This has eliminated the nute burn problem I had the last time around and even the leafs at the very bottom are still green! I also lost my hps bulb during the move which sucked. That weed will get the best of me sometimes. No problem though, I was excited to have to pick up a Hortilux Super HPS 400w. I dont know what my last one was, it came with the ballast for cheap so I am confident the new bulb is only an upgrade at this point I strated from a seed I found in a nug from the last plant I grew. Its the daughter so I know what to expect from the stretch as well as many other things this time around. Fat Joe had a good thread on the ScrOG method. Even though I used the screen on the last one, Fat Joe had some good tips and ideas that enabled me to ScrOG with a little more confidence this time around. Other than that, everything is the same. I am not however using the carbon filter this time around. The smell from one plant isn't an issue and frees up a little more room above the screen . Here is a pic at day 1 of flowering ![]() Here is a pic at day 5 of flowering ![]() I have a few more pics but they keep uploading sideways regardless what I do. My laptop had some "issues" and now I am using my mac which I am not used to. When I figure that out, I'll post some more. Currently I am on day 18 of flowering and the screen has filled up very nicely. |

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
Yeah buddy, lets do it again!! So im guessing if you are on day 18 of flower you know it is a female...and that Hortilux Super HPS is the way to go for sure! You wont be disappointed, and im sure your plant will love the extra lumens it brings!

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
I did forget to mention it IS a female. Exciting stuff. At first I thought it was a hermie because my lady had a pair of nuts!? Just two though. Over time hairs started dominating but it gave me quite a scare. Kinda odd too.
This time around I am taking my first attempt at some pruning to remove some of that "larf" as kickstart says. haha. A bit nervous so I'm taking it slow since I'm not in that comfort zone of using the shears on my girl pre-harvest. But yeah berrydizzle, I'm diggin' the new bulb fo' sho', almost as much as the lady is! |

Re: Stratlogic's Hydro Closet ScrOG Grow
Second Harvest!
Well I wasn't able to get my 'puter back until after harvest so here are the new harvest pics. I did everything the same for the most part. This time around I planned a little better where all the buds went under the screen and I skirted the plant too. Aside from that, everything was pretty much the same. I even used a seed from my last plant I harvested. This time around I wanted to try out paper bags and see what that's all about. Last time around I think I dried them too fast and the buds retained that grassy smell until you broke it up. I hoping to eliminate that all together. I'll post the final weight shortly. |
