I am set back up after the hydrohut problems. I lost a few crops in that thing but I did learn a lot more about growing. The problems seemed never ending in the hydrohuts and I spent time reading up on each situation so for that I am thankful it increased my growing knowledge.
I now have a secret jarden DR120 room. I am VERY, VERY happy with it. No withstanding the toxic problems or the hydrohuts the dark room is just a better made product. Even with the lights, pumps, fans and heater in there, I only hear a quiet hum and ZERO light leaks. This was never the case with the hut. you could not only hear what was going on in the hut but the light leaks were in EVERY zipper. They have a new product out with a material similar to the dark rooms but IMHO why take a chance again. I am done venting about the hydrohuts. I have the dark room DR120, not the street. I don’t know what the difference is but the street is supposed to be of lower quality. the specs. DR120 Dimensions: 3'11" x 3'11" x 6'7" The big plus. I can enter it from the front and BOTH the sides. Worth it when the room fills up with plant at the end of flower. I never realized how much until I need to use the sides. I have the a few strains going in veg now. I live in California and its a legal state but good clone strains are hard to come by. I located Two of the strawberry cough.. Even in cali I hear about this strain all the time. I have yet to be able to get my hands on any finished product (other than the strawberry coughxdeep chunk which was GOOD!) so I think that strain is going to flower for sure(interesting how the good stuff is always so hard to find..). I created a poll for your strain opinions. The ladies I know love the sour diesel so that is a contender. I have 2 of those as well. I also have bubba kush which I don’t know too much about. Please post your thoughts on that as well as the champagne. I hear its good but I would like your opinions. I am going to TRY and clone them all for mothers and flower all of this group. That’s what the poll is for. I have a 24" sun system new wave T5 with 3K and 6K cfl's. I have them under that now in The Original DWC Hydroponic System (24” x 20” x 8.5” - 3.75” pot 8 site) I have them in rockwool plugs in hydroton at 6.0 ph around 500ppm. I adjust PH for anything outside 5.8 to 6.3 Nutes.. I am using flora nova during early veg due to the light mix at this stage of growth but its way to thick(in waterfarms) once I run it hotter at 800 plus ppm. When I use up the nutes I have GH 3 parts,DNF,mag-amped and bloom, It’s H&G aqua flakes. After several friends did side by sides I can tell you those H&G aqua flakes must be made of ground up angels. I have tried lots seen a bit more. I am going to stay with the house and garden line after this grow..until something better comes along or something just as good that’s cheaper. At this stage I am only using 3 additives with the flora nova Cal Mag--- I only use R/O Water H&G root accelerator H&G drip clean I don’t have a MH setup but I do have Sunlight Supply's 600W HPS Harvest Pro ballast with a Super Sun 2 - 6 Inch Air-Cooled Reflector I will switch them to a 600 watt sunmaster cool deluxe metal halide conversion bulb in another week or so then change to the flowing hps bulb around the first week of January depending on growth. I have waterfarms for flower and I will transfer them there from the 8 site DWC. I only have one intake and one exhaust fan. The intake is a Vortex 4 inch 172 CFM High Power Inline Fan, This is more than enough for my 4x4x6 grow room. I pull through a 6’ odor sok with a Vortex 6 inch 449 CFM High Power Inline Fan. The odor sok has not worked well in the past but it gets me through veg cheap and I will probably pick up a can fan before flower but I would like your input on good 6” filters. I had to put voltage adjusters on to reduce the speed on both the intake and exhaust. They are too powerful for the room size and if not dialed in right/equal they can suck the room in to the point where it looks like it’s going to implode or burst when on higher speeds . I have never needed full speed but the plants seem to love all that fresh air in the warmer months when I dial the speed up to medium. When the temperatures are below the 60’s I connect the hood so the air blows past the bulb warms the room then out through the filter. Above 60’s I connect the filter to the hood, then to the exhaust fan to pull the heat right out. I bought my hood before they all came with I found the details were very helpful when I was starting out so I hope this prevents some new growers from learning the hard way. I am open to new ideas so please post any changes you think will improve the grow. I will try and post picture updates often Your four20friend.

Nice setup man. I use the DR150W and have no complaints really. Wish it was a bit higher but thats it. I only have front access but thats all I need since its a wide model. Good luck!

Ive been looking at mine trying to figure out how I can shifts things about to get a couple of more inches. The fan only blocks 1 light and I lose about 5-6 inches I otherwise could get.

move the fan down or outside the tent in the exhaust line. Have you tried clamps when your light hits the top or go mcguver with zip ties(when every inch counts)...well that what she said!

Yeah I've thought of it but I'm really trying to keep the tent self contained so to say. I'm working on jamming a 6 X24 carbon filter in there somewhere too.. lol Some zip ties, a tub of crisco, and some straps I'll have it all in order :)

yeah I had the issue of sucking in with the 449cfm exhaust. I use 2 of the Honeywell Turbo fans for intakes and now it balloons outwards but not dangerously since they are just blowing toward the duct intakes and not actually sealed to them. SO with the outward bulge I actually get a few more inches all around for the plant canopy. And the air in their must be replaced every 60 seconds or so which doesn't hurt.

The ladies seem ok but temps have been low in the tent 50-mid 60's.I have the rez on 2 seedling heater mats and a heater that goes on when the pumps do. I am going to transfer them next week to the waterfarms and start using the 600 conversion bulb. That should bring the room temps up as well as my power bill. The nutes were running at 500+ ppm and I got a lot of burning on the sour diesels and some brown spots on one SC. I cut it back to 300 ppm with a nute change last night and added more cal-mag in case its a lack of mg. Other than one leaf looking burnt The SC look good and are going strong. I thought that was a low yield connoisseur strain but they are my fastest growers. They are both under the center of the lights so.we will all see. this is how they look today.
thanks mcbuds for your interest. When I got this grow tent, I went to an electrical supply store and got a fan speed controler for less than 20$. They are simple to use you just dial the speed up or down and it has a full speed and off switch as well. you dont have to wire anything just plug the cable in like an outlet. It works great in my situation. It also reduces the noise to a low hum when below full speed but that is the main reason I went with vortex. I hope that can help your situation as well but I have heard they cause problems on some fans that are not factory wired for speed control. vortex sells their own version but its more than twice the price for the same thing. so far over a year with mine and no problems. during the cool months I keep mine set at the lower speeds. I also have a much smaller room than you mcbuds and I am not familiar with Honeywell Turbo fans so maybe someone smarter than me has a better idea for you. On to you cherma.thanks for your interest in my little grow..I am very passionate about, Beautiful women and Buds as well. I think they were always meant to compliment each other.maybe mrs fox has an opinion on that!?!.some of the best bud I have ever had was Hawaiian Afghani. Then again they beaches you have in hawaii and the company might have had a lot to do with it. Sour Diesel being the only strain in this group I have tried I can't form an opinion but I promise a smoke report. Hey Cherma is it true Hawaii is going to pass a medical marijuana law that does not require residency soon?.I keep hearing they are working out some deal where the island govermment will set up casinos and cannabis card stations, or is that a stoner dream.maybe obama will sign it.In hawaii that would be something else!. Imagine a slot machine where buds come out instead of coins!

Thanks for your interest music4higher. If you are looking for more room than a closet but not a entire room, I recommend the secret jarden dark rooms. With the hps on in there I can not find one light leak when its zipped up.
Here is my setup. ![]() The DR120 Dimensions are: 3'11" x 3'11" x 6'7" I thought 6'-7" would be enough height, but with waterfarms already a foot off the floor and the height lost to the hood I used almost every vertical inch of it last grow.I am going to use bushmaster this time to keep them shorter. |
