was supposed to do it at 8am. So they just got 16 hours of dark. If it's going to hermie them I'd rather just get rid of them than spread pollen all over my box.

What should I do? Should I put them to bed tonight at 8pm like usual or should I wait until midnight so they still get 12 hrs of light?

Put them back on schedule as you were doing, an extra 4 hours darkness won't harm them. What, a late night last night? It was a Fried Day. or Friday?

I'm a local boy myself. Still have family on Maui and Oahu. I spent many summers in Kahului, Maui...

I'm on the mainland now though. Freezing my ass off in the Great White North.

I can’t believe how fast these things are growing! Less than 2 weeks ago they were just seeds and look at them now… I had no idea I was going to love growing plants so much.

I changed the reservoir over the weekend. The new solution is 460 PPM,
up from 240ppm the first week. I also started adding some stuff called
Great White. It’s a Mychorrhizal Fungus that’s supposed to be really good
for the roots.

I also moved the DWC with the two PowerSkunks into the box. I couldn't
stand seeing the two little guys starving for light under the Flourescents
when all the rest were under the 600W MH. These are both 1 week old. Big difference in size.

This one spent its first 2 days sharing a pot in the Ebb & Gro under the MH,
then 2 days under Flouros in the DWC and the last 3 days back in the box
with the others.


This one has been under the 600W MH all week.



I fired up the HPS for the practice plants too. Up until 3 days ago they've
been under the MH with the others.

Here's a pic of the whole garden.


I wondered if there would be a noticeable difference between the 2
powerskunks in the DWC since one is closer to the MH and the other is closer
to the HPS. So far they're the same size, but the one closer to the HPS is
tending to lean over toward the MH light.


Here’s a shot of the one I messed up the root on when it was little.
Kinda funny looking still smaller than the rest, but it looks like she’s
going to be alright.



I’m a little worried about this one now though. It’s the G13 White Widow.
It has a little bit of brown showing up on the bottom set of leaves. The
rest of the plant looks healthy. It’s the biggest one of the bunch too.
The dark stains are from this Magic Green Foliar spray I've been using.

This is also the same plant that was laying over on it's side last week.



Is it Nute Burn? What can I do about it? Should I be worried?

That looks like a nute splash thats happened to me also.

Not much you can do about it won't hurt that much. You have nice leaves after that set anyways.

Thanks Pan. Now I'm getting really worried though. I got up this morning and about half
of the plants have at least a tiny bit of brown on their tips. Some are worse than others.
The PPP's bottom leaves look as bad as the G13 White Widow now.

Is that nute burn? It's at 460 PPM right now. Should I maybe replace some of the Nute solution with plain RO Water?

I would hold off on that foliar spray if its staining your leaves like that. Is this a concentrated solution or come ready to spray?

What is your pH range? Reservoir temp?

Hey McBudz. The Magic Green Foliar spray is a concetrate. I mixed 10ml of it in a liter of water. I sprayed it on them right after lights out. They're on 18/6.
Do you think that could be causing this?

Last night the ph was 5.7 and the rez temp was 67F.

I couldn't wait so I just dumped 10 Gal of the 55 gal rez and replaced it with RO water. The PPM is now at 360PPM.

I just realized something else too. I might have messed it up even worse. I ph'd the water before I added it. It was at 6.5 and I added 5ml of ph down and brought it down to 5.8, but I had to put 10ml of ph up in the rez when I mixed the solution. I'd heard it was bad to but both ph up and down in your solution. It's only a really little bit in a 55gal rez though. Think it will be ok or should I just dump the whole thing and start over?

I run mine 5.5 to 5.8 but different nutes.
I could be the spray. I could be algae my worst nute burn was from that.
I use a plant and fish algaecide for that now.

Hi Pan. I've been trying to keep it at 5.8. I had it right at 5.8 after I mixed to solution, but I'm having a hard time getting it to stay still. This morning it's at 6.4. Should I put more ph down in it knowing it already has 15ml of ph up in it from before?

Also, I noticed yesterday that one of my rapid rooters is turning green. There's a real light green film on one corner of it. Is that the algae you're talking about maybe?

It's normal for you tanks be off in the morning that mean your plants are using the nutes.
Yes it is IMO I've had some green rockwool too.
I will get a picture up the the algaeicide in the x garden when lights are on.

Thanks Pan. I went to the local hydro store today to see if they had any algaecide, but he said he's never seen any that wouldn't hurt the plants.

I got mine at Petsmart. Haven't killed a plant yet I have 24 plants.

I decided to wait on the Algecide. I think they’re doing better now. I covered up all the exposed rapid rooters with more hydroton to cut off the light on the algae. Seems to be working. I think I was watering too much too. I cut it back from 6 flood cycles a day to 4.

I changed the res on the ebb & gro yesterday. The new solution is at 5.8 for ph. I didn’t have to add any ph up or down. Just got lucky. The ppm is at 670 (started out last week at 460, then I watered it down to 360 when they started turning brown). No more nute burn so far after 3 flood cycles. The plants are looking really happy so far.

I changed the res on the DWC this morning. I’ve been using the Techna Flora nutes that came with the ebb & gro in here. The recommended ppm for these nutes is a lot higher than the HG. This week they’re at 1100ppm. The plants are doing ok. Their roots are growing out the bottom of the baskets into the water and they look nice and white. I’m not real impressed with the power skunks compared to the others though. They’re not growing as fast and they’re kind of spindly and stretched out looking. The ones in the ebb & gro with the HG nutes are doing a little better, but not as well as the WWs and VKs. I can’t complain though since they were free. I just hope a couple end up being female.

I’m going to veg 1 more week and then switch to 12/12.
