2 600's, Ebb & Gro, WW_Violator Kush_PPP

Thanks for looking in! This will be my first serious
attempt at growing. I don't know anyone in real
life that grows so I'm pretty much trying to learn
from books and the internet. I'm sure I'll make my share
of mistakes and I hope you guys will chime in if you can
offer any advice or criticism.

I've built a box in my basement 7ft long, 3 ft deep
and 6.5 ft high. I painted the inside flat white.
I bought some mylar, but I’m not sure if I’m going
to use it. I’ve read a few posts that said Flat White
paint is actually more reflective and other posts that
said that you can get mold or fungus growing between
the Mylar and the wood.

I have the 55 gallon rez and the control unit outside the box
and the 12 Ebb & Gro pots inside.

For lighting I have (2) 600W Lumatec digital ballasts and 2 hydrofarm
6" vented reflectors. I’m using Hortilux HPS and MH conversion bulbs.

For ventilation I have a 4 inch CAN fan with a HEPA filter blowing
into the box and a 12in carbon filter hooked up to a 6in CAN
fan blowing through the lights and out of the box. If the carbon
filter works as well as I’m hoping it will, I will vent right through
the wall to the next bedroom so I can make use of the heat.
Both fans are connected to a Sentinel EVC-2 Environmental Controller
set to turn them on whenever it gets above 73F.

I also hung a 1500W electric space heater from the ceiling
into it to keep it warm at night while the lights are off. Temp in
the basement at night is about 60F. I’ll try to keep it at 68F
inside the box.

Humidity is about 32% pretty consistently. I’m guessing that will
probably go up some once I have the ebb & gro going.


I also bought a StealthRO100 RO machine for the water. I’ll be
using House and Garden products. Aquaflakes A+B, Drip Clean,
Root Accelerator, Bud XL, Shooting powder, Top Booster,
MultiZyme, Algen Extract.. Also got some CalMag and Great White.
I have my hands full right now trying to learn what each of these
actually does.

I bought seeds from Attitude Seed Bank. 5 Seedsman Seeds
Feminized White Widows and 5 Barney’s Farms Feminized
Violator Kush seeds. They threw in a G13 Labs Feminized White
Widow and a Feminized PPP for free so it works out perfect with
the 12 Ebb & Gro pots.

They also threw in 5 un-feminized Power Skunks. I’m planning
to grow them either in dirt or in a Rubbermaid DWC under some
CFL’s while the first 12 are growing so I can cut some clones to
use for my next grow. I’m also hoping to get some clones of the
WW and Violator Kush right before I cut the lights back to 12/12.


My plan as of now is to germ the first 12 seeds in paper towel in
covered plates sitting on a heating pad. When they crack I’ll put
them in Rapid Rooters and keep them under fluorescents on 24/0
for a week or so then move them straight into the Ebb & Gro buckets
under the MH on 18/6. I’ll veg for 2-3 weeks then switch to the
HPS at 12/12.

The plants inthe pictures are from some bag seeds I threw in some Miracle Grow before I had even started researching this back in December. I was going to toss them when I got my real stuff set up, but I think I'm going keep them going.

I will be updating frequently with lots of pics. Let me know what
you think of my set up.

looks good, complicated too. i'd defiantly keep your practice plants. i gave away 4 or 5 of my clones to make room for my 'GOOD' grow and i lost out on over 4 oz thats been harvested so far. anywho, good luck!

Thanks guys. I got it all hooked up and tested. It's working fine so I started germinating the seeds this afternoon. I'll post pics as soon as things start happening.

Thanks Insider. I'd guess I have about 20 hours into putting this set up together. It would have gone quicker if I knew what I was doing. I'm kind of learning as I go myself. I'll do my best to keep a detailed log.

woohoo!!! I just check my seeds. 36 hours after I put them in the wet paper towel, all 12 have cracked and every one has at least a 1/4 inch long tap root showing! THANK YOU Attitude Seed Bank!

I got a little experience yesterday.

10 of the 12 seeds I put in the Rapid Rooters popped their heads out so I put the rapid rooters in the Ebb & Gro under the MH light about 4 ft away. I tested the ph and it read 6.9.

I wanted to lower it to 5.8. The instructions on the ph meter and the ph-down both said to start by adding "a little" at first and check it again and work from there. Neither set of instructions gave an actual amount, they just say "a little" or a "small amount”. The rez had 40 Gallons in it. I thought I'd start by adding 200ml of ph down. It looked like a small amount to me, but it ended up being waaay too much. It brought it down to 3.2.

I had to dump the whole thing and start over.

It takes about 14 hours to fill the reservoir so I mixed up a gallon of light nutes to feed them while they're waiting. I mixed 2.5ml each of the Aquaflakes A&B, 1.1ml Roots Excelurator, 5ml Algen Extract in a gallon of RO water. Every few hours I've been giving each of them a shot or 2. The rez is almost done refilling so I'll be mixing up the same strength solution in there for the first week.

One of the White Widows and one Violator Kush still haven’t popped up yet. I’ve started germinating the 5 free non-feminized Power Skunks just in case those two don’t work out.

They look pretty happy so far. Pics from last night. I have them all squashed together under one light to save some money on electricity while they're little.






The practice plants are doing well too. I started out with 8. I'm left with 3 that are females. The 3 that are left are looking pretty good though.
