Re: 1st Grow Bomb Bagweed

So quick update. i went to the hydro store today. I got the rest of the stuff to finish the grow cab. I picked up an air cooled hood, 100' of mylar(which by the way is a pain in the ass to hang), a carbon filter, an inline, some flex tube and all the hardware. I ran out of time to finish, but the ladies should be in their new home tomorrow. hope this settles the temp issue once and for all. It set me back a cool 280. Ouch! The plants are all looking great. The sad plants are looking better, I did some LST on Kim and she responded great. She is looking very bushy. I am gonna do some tying down on jan tomorrow. I fed all plants yesterday and they all responded well. i will update with picks as soon as I get a few free minutes. Prolly tomorrow or the next.

Re: 1st Grow Bomb Bagweed

Do you guys think it would hurt anything if i switched from 18/6 to like 16/8 to better deal with my heat issue? I got the new set=up going, but 'm doing a test run to see what the heat does in the new box. I could turn the lights off from like 11-7 while it's stinking hot. will this slow my growth more then high heat would slow it?

I'd say stick with your current lighting schedule and monitor it in their new home for a few days first. I know heat can be an issue but they are small and in soil, so they should handle up to the low 90s OK. The Max temp on my probe reads 92. I seem to get there just about every day and hit mins in 70s. This is in hydro too. The heat is more of an issue in the flowering stages I believe. Read somewhere that the buds will have less density (stringy and fluffy). CO2 can alleviate that somewhat when elevated.

So right now, just get them into the new home and monitor the conditions. Changing the light cycles too much is just another stressor your plants would have to handle. Could lead to hermaphroditism in genetically suseptible strains. Remember, plants in nature go their entire lives in the same spot and they adapt to those particular conditions. Suddenly changing those conditions often and/or severely tells the plant that it is a bad time to grow and may be better to make seed for next season at whatever cost.

That is how I see it. I could be wrong.

Did you roll it out from sideways? If so, next time, try taping one end of the mylar roll to the top corner of a wall and just roll it down, just like wallpaper. Horizontally, you need an extra pair of hands to get it in smoothly as you may have discovered.

Re: 1st Grow Bomb Bagweed

I did it like you described, but I had a hard time because of the studs. Before I realized I could just drape it and tape it, I was trying to go around the studs and be fancy. I should have just kept it siple. Oh well, I still got like 50'. Does mylar give off hot spots?
Quick update the temps are still pretty much the same. But, what are you gonna do when its hot out. I still have like 20' of 6" duct and another 6" inlne booster. I might try to run some air in from the a/c upstairs or from the outside. The plants are looking great though. It seems like they put an inch or 2 in the last day (well since they got a nice dose of grow big). Even the sick looking plant is showing new growth. i feel alot better now that the plants are in the garage though. I think I might have to get real serious about pest prevention though. I can open the garage door to allow fresh air into the area, but I do not want to introduce pests.

Stully, the mylar is difficult even indoors on drywall...lol. The corners are difficult. But yours looks just fine bro, very nice job indeed. Hope they continue to do well.

Re: 1st Grow Bomb Bagweed

So I made a complete beginner mistake today. I was wondering why the temps were not cooler so I started looking back over my plans and realized that I forgot to add a passive intake. I planned for it, but when push came to shove, I forgot. Now I'm in there at 10 at night with the sawzaw and believe it or not the temps dropped 5 degrees in 10 minutes. So thats a relief. Oh and by the war, these air cooled hood are the shit. You can put them bad boys right down there on em. I think I'm like 10 inches from the tops. The plants literally exploded in the 5 hours in the new cab. Or maybe it's just me hoping. But no they do look great.
