Do budsites require growth tips?

If I remove the growth tips at a node can bud sites still develop there? For example if I was to remove every growth tip besides the main top one, would bud sites develop along the main stem, or only one at the very top?

I don't plan on doing this, I just want my question to be clear.

what are you referring to as a "growth tip"? if your talking about the tips of the branches, it will just cause the plant make more branches. it is known as "topping" or "fimming". If that's not what your talking about, then I am lost.

So when a new node develops it creates 2 fan leaves and 2 growth tips which become branches. If you remove the 2 growth tips there will be no new branches at that node, but will there also be no bud sites at that node during flowering stage?

yes, that is topping or fimming, when you top it produces 2 new branches in that spot, if you "fim" or do not take the whole growth tip (the "Fuck I missed" technique) you can potentially cause multiple branches at that site. all of those new branches will create new bud sites. and you do not want to top your plant in any way near or during flower.. Most of these techniques are stopped at least 1 week prior to inducing flowering as you do not want your plant stressed when it flowers.

This brings a question to mind. I am five weeks into the flowering stage. Every couple of days I clip off any new bud site that develop below the top three nodes of each branch. I have been doing a combination of training technics since the fourth node appeared. Topping, I topped the plants three time. I tided the branches down to keep the height of the branches the same level. I have from eight to twelve buds on the plants. Is what I am doing causing stress?

What I'm talking about is a plant that is never topped and has all its side branches are removed. Will it have any bud sites?

I have never thought of doing this due to diminished returns involved with removing the desired bud sites, I suppose one could only guess, my guess if you remove all the budsites then only the top would grow one cola
