Cover over soil?

I was thinking I could cut a circle of panda film the size of my pots and cut a radial slit to get it around the plant. It seems at first thought that this would reflect some light up at the plant, and possibly slow the evaporation of water. Is there a reason people don't do this? It seems fairly basic... more light=more growth... so there must be a reason people aren't doing this. It occurred to me that it may promote mold growth, but I can't think of any other reason, and that one's just a guess.

In theory I agree it should work. I would test it out on 10% of your grow so if it doesnt work as expected as least your whole grow wont be affected.

I recommend checking out led manufacturers that use sun spectrum led. Its as natural as it gets and can eliminate the need to take these measures.
