Two weeks ago I got busted while I was at home smokin a fatty after work. Some nosy ass neighbor of mine went and told the landlady she smelled weed. The landlady came and knocked on my door. I was so stoned that I didn't know what the hell was goin' on. I opened the door and two cops that were hiding around the corner ran into my shit. I had 12 grams of pot, but the cops thought it was a dimebag. I still got arrested and charged with simple possession. I really don't know if it is worth my time to hire a lawyer and all that other bullshit. I really don't want that shit on my permanent record, but this is my first offense. I just moved to NC and I heard that first offenses can be expunged from your criminal record. I hope the judge isn't a dick and doesn't make that shit go on my criminal record. Any suggestions?

First of all how did your neighbor see you smoking? Were you outisde or inside? Second of all, this person who told your landlady should have been minding her own business instead of acting like a tattle-tale kid from 1st grade and bitching to the landlady that someone "might be smoking that marijuana".
Tell the judge you just got home from work, had no intention of going anywhere else and just wanted to smoke some weed to relax, because that's the way you like the unwind after work. Besides, I think NC has decriminalized weed to some degree. I think you'll just get something like a traffic ticket, a misdimeanor.

Be like turn your stuff down close your windows or ima call the cops.
Person might not even know hes being to loud, He doesnt know the neighboor could smell it. He was too highto think he says so obviously some things that he was doing he probably didnt even know. |

They do not need a warrant if they have probable cause to suspect that you are in fact possesion of marijuana. Having the land lady say she suspected you of smoking was all the invitation that the police needed. However, I don't think you will need a lawyer for such a small amount and if you plea bargin with them (do community service or whatever) then it will most likely not be put on your record.

Dude I would get a lawyer that sounds like a sketchy story. They still need a warrant unless they and they by the police not a neighbor see you openly breaking the law like thru the window. But in NC if u want it off ur record ur lookin at random drug tests for a year and drug counseling most likely. Good luck man.
