Here's how things are up here in The Emerald Triangle, and why I moved here 6 years ago when I read about it.
Mr P. was busted for cultivating 50 plants at home. He was arrested and released OR.
A month later he is again arrested for cultivating 50 plants. He's released OR and the charges are combined.
A month later, while awaiting trial you guessed it, Mr. P is arrested for growing 50 plants at home. He is released OR snd the 3rd charge is added.
So he goes to trial on 3 counts of cultivating a total of 150 plants.
He's convicted. His sentence? One years summry probation ( no drug testing, no probation officer).
At his sentencing, hizzonor said "Mr. P., this court has more important things to do that hassle with you growing pot. Get yourself a prescription."

The Emerald Triangle refers to the three counties of Mendocino, Humboldt, and Trinity in Northern California.
This region is also called Behind the Redwood Curtain, because the two major highways that connect these three counties, U.S. Route 101 and California State Highway 299, are narrow, winding and lined with tall redwood trees. This cuts the Emerald Triangle off from the rest of California.

The Emerald Triangle is widely considered to be the largest producer of marijuana in the United States. Originally the majority of the marijuana was grown outside in the prime conditions of northern California, where there is enough sun and rain to grow redwoods, the second tallest trees in the world. Years of police attention including the use of helicopters in the more rural areas have pushed much of the growing indoors. Because of the controlled conditions and the decades of refining strains such as "Trainwreck", Emerald Triangle marijuana is known nationwide for its quality.<SUP class=noprint title="The text in the vicinity of this tag needs citation.">[citation needed]</SUP>

Hey thanks. That took some work and I 'preciate it.
Other tidbits:
-With a prescription you can legally grow 99 plants in Humboldt.
-In Mendocinco every person can legally grow 25 plants, no prescription needed.
-In Trinity County: there are no traffic lights, not even 1. The biggest city (Weaverville) has 3,500 pop. Because of budget cuts and a low crime rate, occasionally there are no patrolmen on duty. If a cop is needed, dispatch calls them at home. Some days there are NO calls to 911 for any reason in the entire county.
