Hi all. There's a good chance my lady and I will be moving to Vancouver in the not too distant future. As an avid smoker, I was wondering how difficult it is to obtain a marijuana prescription card.
I do use pot for more than recreation. For years I've used it for things like headaches and frequent stomach pain (though not for a diagnosed condition), as well as for very real (and diagnosed) anxiety and depression - with great success. Do you have to jump through a lot of hoops to get a prescription? Do you need full citizenship? Gonna do real research on the subject anyway, but I thought it couldn't hurt to hear from people with actual experience. Many thanks. Buddha

i dont have a prescription for weed and have never tried but from what ive heard its much easier in California to find a doctor to prescribe to you but if your prescribed medical cannabis down there im sure you can find a doc up north who will prescribe that to you but there wont be as many shops to buy from as cally either.

i don't have a prescription for medical use either or ever tried for one,, from i what i understand is that for prescriptions that require long term medical use, most medical users in canada have designated growers who are monitored by provincial laws,, if not growing it themselves, although i know there was a pilot program in which health canada marijuana was going to be grown in flin flon, manitoba and made available at pharmacies in B.C only,, i don't know if this came about or not but B.C is definitely the most liberal province towards medical or even recreational use of marijuana,,i highly doubt you would have problems obtaining medical prescription if you previously had one in the U.S..
if your prescription requires long term or even indefinite use then i would recommend that you look into obtaining a growers permit for your own medical use ,, if growing is not a possibility then look into designated grower with proven results,, as for pharmaceutical marijuana (if even happened, have not been to b.c for a couple years) i would imagine it would be expensive if not covered by health insurance (Canadian, provincial, or private) but would likely suffice in circumstances of short term use, also i believe there are coffee shops in Vancouver (Vansterdam) that sell medicinal marijuana i think,,but are constantly harassed by federal government and laws,, if the worst case scenario was to happen and you were denied medicinal use,, the availability of good premium marijuana in b.c. is great and quite abit cheaper than most any other province in canada,, average recreational user paying between $150-$200 an ounce of properly cured, neatly manicured, potent marijuana,,(although i did just get an O of some great skywalker here in MB for $180 , but unfortunately the norm here is $200+ averaging 220 and of lesser quality)..early christmas for me this year perhaps,,lol,, |
