Not a friggin lot statewise. We're still years behind most 'middle-of-the-road' states sadly

Actually there is!
PUFMM - People United for Medical Marijuana under the coordination of Kim Russell is working on gathering petitions as we speak for the 2010 Florida Ballot. There is a link on another post here to the PUFMM website which has the petition download, info on how to get involved, contact info, and Facebook / Meetup info. Put the www. before PUFMM and .com after if you cannot find it. Come join this grass roots effort and help the cause.

floridas gonna be a tough one to win. although the are i live in seems pretty decent on the subject. most everyone i know smokes, tolerates it or smokes every once in a while. i catch neighbors out in their back yard all the time choking. and some ppl like me even walk through the neighborhood joint in hand. even been pulled over, searched, bag of weed found and then let go w/o confiscation
but as far as being legal i feel its going to be a bit slower than most other states |

yeah, well, they can count on my vote, my signature, my voice whatever it takes. I pay damn taxes in this state, the usage among the 18-50 demographic, pot usage is overwhelming. However, because this is a retirement state, we are inundated with 65-85 year old retirees, who learned all they knew, know, or will ever want to know about pot from the movie "Reefer madness" Because they come from all northern states, they actually outnumber the true target demographic for elected officials.
That and the state tends to vote Republican, it's not to do away with pot, which a large majority of the Republican voting numbers use, it's because, it's just never been a Democrat friendly state for the majority, for lack of a better description, and coming from a native, Florida is too redneck to be anything but conservative, and conservatives, will never bend on Marijuana laws, because it's not financially beneficial. They make more money off prosecutions than they could taxes. (B.S.) Our jails are over run with mostly minor marijuana offenses, so many, they routinely lose entire case files, forcing case's to be dropped. This happened to my best friend. The people of Florida are uniting, I hear it from everyone, that this person or that had petitions going around, we are working from within, we will win this, because our Governor isn't an idiot, he see's the writing on the wall, and I've followed his career since he was the Pinellas county education commissioner, he doesn't allow his party affiliation to box him into doing something idiotic, just because. He's said in a local radio interview, when he was running for state legislator, that while he didn't support marijuana legalization at this time, he'd be open to read any proposal, that would benefit the state and the people. Now, he's the Governor, and the state is in a fiscal crisis, and the people are crying out, I hope he remembers what he said, on the Bubba the Love sponge show about 8 years ago. :D

The state seems to be heavily enforcing their no drug policy. I do know that the grow scene in Florida is rising at an alarming rate so the supply is not declining anytime soon. Just some more clear evidence that prohibition is not the answer.

Busts are up, but they haven't changed their target, which is, and always has been large scale grow houses, and importers. Of course the street level dealers get busted, but thats a different faction of the war on drugs, thats more of a war on hoods.
the secret to staying low in Florida is being a little fish in a big pond. Its not safe here to grow quantity..grow just what you need for yourself, and usually the fuzz wont bother with you. Unless one of your neighbors call on you, and in that case, the cops come because they have no idea how big your operation is until they get there. But thats pretty much the only way to get busted otherwise. Florida isn't as bad as it's being made out to be, all of my hook ups and friends, are all still in business as usual, so they haven't clamped down any tighter than other states have.
