Re: Distilled Water?
I wish I had a 4th option for Reverse Osmosis.
OH wow! DO NOT INTRODUCE POND WATER WITH ALGAE IN IT TO YOUR GARDEN. Algae is not something we want to see growing with our weed. Some spend a lot of money to remove it from their reservoirs and soil. Why add it intentionally? Plus you have no idea what else is in that pond water. Well water needs to be tested before you use it as well. Some wells like mine are full of unwanted chemicals and organisms that affect taste and growth. I use RO water. It's the best! I paid about $60.00 after s/h for a portable 4 stage reverse osmosis system off ebay and spend $22.00 every other month on new pre and post filters. We use the water for drinking, cooking and growing. My tap/well water is over 400ppm and after I run it through the RO set up it runs between 2 and 4 PPM. Huge difference. |

Re: Distilled Water?
I've been drinking distilled for 13 years. Health conditions. One person said; "OMG, You gonna throw your body off" LOL I said of what" He said certain Vites, LOL Are people that dumb??? Do they follow everyone off the cliff???
Bottle water contains 1% of 1% of 1% of nutrition and mostly for your teeth. I take vites in pill form and eat right. Most have augured me, I keep surviving as they just keep dropping under 6 feet of dirt. So, yes, distilled is one of the most safest waters to drink and to feed your plant. Otherwise why in the HELL do you give it vites and minerals??? Like 20-20-20 or 17-17-17 DUH DUH cause hum uhhhhhh stupid? ![]() |

Re: Distilled Water?
as far as well water goes...what kind of well...i had a natural aquifer that had a runoff from it...came from 250 some odd feet down, pure naturaly filtered water....the plants LOVED it! at the end, my girls were almost 6 1/2 feet tall...that water was awesome..didnt use nothing but that water and soil from a horse pasture...threw in some earth worms and wow...sorry for the rant...
...my point is this..if its a natural well good, if its a piped well test it... |

Re: Distilled Water?
its not that hard..just get a garbage can and put in the nessary stuff for a hose and stuff..or just use it as a well...you can run the gutter into the lid ((with the lid having a hole cut for it))...then under the lid you install a screen to keep bugs, leaves, other various gutter runoff, and even if you keep the lid off, still have a screen to keep mosquitos (sp) out...

Re: Distilled Water?
Every person I've ever heard who tried to use rain water run off for watering their plants (including myself) ended up with plants with root rot or what's called "dampening off". 6 or 7 others besides myself actually. Think about it...the roof is a nasty enviroment with pollens and anything else blowing in the wind and animal and insect shit on it as well as oils from the shingles and seam sealants.

Reverse Osmosis reminds me most of that comes from poop and pee water, cleaned and then chemicals added.
I guess if your into water sports and scat then that's what you'll be smoking...lol it's not for me, just the thought of my lips on a rolled joint and someone's poop water cleaned oh yummy, now if I like the person, okay maybe I'll get into water sports and poops/scat...lol |

Re: Distilled Water?
I found a little meter just like a soil ph tester that you stick in the soil and it measures the dampness. I wouldn't have bought one originally but since finding it and using it I would buy another if I ever need too. It's very convenient.

Re: Distilled Water?
I chose distilled even though it's R.O. (reverse osmosis) ... close enough though.
I use it, because I believe that with Hydro, I'm trying to create the optimal environment for the plant, to get the best results possible. Starting as close to zero (ppm) as possible makes it easier for me to make sure the plant is only being exposed to what it needs. Not extra metals and salts. I have 3 systems up and running... 1: a 2' X 2' ebb and flow (10 gal rez) under it's own 400w hps. and is watered for 30min every 3 hours. (this timing was originally set only because the $4.99 mechanical timer i had could not be set for a shorter duration. But I've gotten such decent results, I haven't bothere3d changing... and the timer aint broke yet.) I have 2 "drip" buckets that I made from 5 gal buckets sharing a 400w hps. I fill them with 2 gal of nuts. Watering is on the same timer as the lights. If the lights are on, it's dripping. Lights go off, so does the water. I have 2 other 5gal drip buckets, that currently house 2 mothers. Same fill on them, but I'm rolling back the feeding to 30 minutes every 3 hours. All plants are in a medium of Diatomite ("Fossil Rock"). High syllica content, good for the stems, and stabilizing PH. Water comes from my r.o. system at exactly 7.0 ph, When nutes are added (house mix copy of General Hydro's Flora, and Micro. Never use the "Green" or Veg, all the same ingredients are in the micro and flora... and I don't veg that long.) PH is lowered to mid 4's, and I use PH up to bring it back to High 5's. TMI i know... but I'm waken and baken now and thought i'd share... |

Re: Distilled Water?
I'd stay away from flavored waters. Best to give as pure of water as possible.
