my first outdoor grow, have some questions
Hey guys I'm starting my first outdoor grow. I have a place picked out. It's on the north side of a hill unfortunately, but I found a place where it flattens out and gets some nice sun. The main reason for picking the spot is because of a nice little natural spring running about 30-40 yards from my sites. I plan on tapping into it.
I started ~20 bag seeds this year along with some tomatoes and peas in one of those humidity domes with the pete pellets. I put them in yesterday. I have 6 cfl lights on them surrounded by some foil and a pretty nice heating pad my dad let me have (he's not cool with me growing pot lol...but is ok with tomatoes...i'm going to have to be stealthy). Since, I live with my parents my main concerns is if they start to smell. My plan is to run like an 18/6 cycle for about a month to keep them in vegetative state then transplant them in pots to an area not at but around my grow sites. I am kind of worried about them smelling and my dad figuring out what I'm up to lol. I've only got about 6 holes in and they aren't even done yet. I want to go all the way and dig them as deep as I can. I was out there for 3 hours today slaving heh. I'd rather not dig 20 holes though. So, herein lies the problem. I'd like to get about 10-12 solid holes up and ready to go, so I can transplant females into the sites. So, my questsions are: How big of pots would I need to have them out near my grow site but not yet transplanted before I could recognize if they were female or male or not? Is this even feasible or do you guys think it would be better to suck it up and dig 20 holes? Also, the soil looks really good...like probably 1'-1 1/2' of solid black topsoil. I was planning on using it, so I don't have to walk all kind of potting soil down there. I also bought some pearlite and an organic potting soil to promote flowering. What's a good mixture to use? Also, what about fertilizer and when should I add it? |
