Re: 30 year old amsterdam plants
Naturally, once the female plant has been pollinated, produced seeds, and completed it's flowering cycle it will die. The plant has accomplished it's intended purpose, which is to reproduce, and has thus completed it's lifecycle. Revegging the plant is an un-natural thing and potency and yeilds will suffer exponentially everytime this is done. It is also much more likely to turn the plant herm. due to the stress of revegging.
The only way to keep a plant alive for this long is to leave it in veg. growth never allowing it to flower. Taking cuttings from this "mother" plant will allow you to grow and flower multiple "clones" or copies of the same plant, allowing the mother to stay in veg. and growing for as long as you please. Did the buds get better as the mother got older? No. The mother was simply selected for it's high-potency and every clone from start to finish would have the same potential potency as the mother plant. Whether the clone was taken in year one of the mother's life or year thirty makes no difference. Every clone is essentially a new "young" plant only the genetic traits and potential potency are known factors beforehand. ![]()
