Will too much Nitrogen in flower cause problems?...
I've been trying to figure out how to know when to switch to flower nutes when growing outside. Today I was reading "Marijuana Horticulture by Jorge Cervantes" and noticed where he said a few strains will flower very early outside, finishing as early as late August, and Hindu Kush was one of 3 he mentioned. That seems very early and they would have to start to flower almost just as soon as the days started to get shorter. I was thinking that if mine were to finish the end of August, I should see some signs real soon. Today I looked and I think mine are showing. There are female pre-flowers coming out of just about every node on every plant. They have had some pre-flowers all along but not like they have now. I have been giving them Fox Farms veg nutes and even gave them a dose of Fish emulsion a few days ago to boost the nitrogen which is exactly what they don't need at this point. I know they should have been getting flower nutes and been cut back on the nitrogen for a couple of weeks now if they are flowering, so have I screwed them up at all? Is there something I should do at this point to remedy the situation other than to start giving flower nutes? I'll flush them in the morning and then wait to see what responses I get. Thanks.

As soon as the sex is determined I would start switching to flowering nutes. Nitrogen is a key part of the whole growth process. You still need nitrogen in the flowering stage, however not nearly at the levels used for veg. Your plants will be fine, just give them flowering nutes, which yes still has some nitrogen in it.

Your plants will be fine. At least now you realize you need to switch to flowering ferts. and did so at the very start of the flowering phase rather then towards the end. No harm, no foul.
Good luck with the plants. ![]()

Re: Will too much Nitrogen in flower cause problems?...
Thanks for the replies. They are clones so I knew they were female from the start and they have had a few pre-flowers for quite some time. They are going to have some incredible thick buds. Hell, they are already very thick while veg-ing. Although I didn't have a choice of strains when I got them, I don't think this is the best strain for outdoors. They are shorter and bushier than most anything I have personally seen. A few are bigger across than they are tall and they are about 30 inches tall. For outdoors I want to grow the biggest plants I can. I got started late and then these are finishing early but I'll be more on top of things next year. These bushy things would be perfect inside. I do have some clones I took last week off of them so I'll try them inside and I'm sure will be very happy. Well, I guess it's time for some Tiger Bloom!
