Re: need help with using NFT
pics of your set up is needed. Questions need to be answered. Res size and temp? Wide gully or narrow channel? Nute type and strength? Room temp and RH? Room size and light size? Is the light air cooled or batwing? I can't really tell you unless I know more.

Re: need help with using NFT
to answer your question about the nutes not flowing around the plant...yes to a degree that can happen. But there has to be more to it. if it is in as bad of shape as you made me think it is anyway.

Re: need help with using NFT
Hi Racefan, Just got back with the info you asked for, I have taken a few pics of the set up and the 2 plants, I grew both plants from seed,
Resov Size. Is 41in x 17in x 8in deep Nutrient. I have been feeding them on IONIC Started off with half strenght Nutrients for the first few week after germ IONIC GROW at 7mls to 1 litre through veg. IONIC BLOOM at 7mls to 1 litre flowering IONIC BOOST 1ml to 1 litre once a week. at any one time i have had no more than 20 litres of solution in the tank. ROOM SIZE- 1 3/4 metres x 2 1/2 metres by 2 metres high. and is fully lined with reflective sheeting. TEMP- I have found it hard to keep room temp low because of us having warm weather avg day time temp in the room about 32'c Night time about 23'c RH- as ranged between 40% to 70% most of the time about mid 50's. Been using carban filter and fans to get rid of excess heat, PH AND EC- i have been making up nutrient solution in 15 litre bucket setting PH at 5.5 and EC at 1.8-2.0 then pouring into the resov. Water been kept at normal room temp. After doing my own bit of research i have found that by not cleaning out solution and just topping up the tank i have not taken into account the level of nutrient already in the tank and the plants. Q, If so that doesn't explain why one plant did so well and the other did so poor, Q, Also the plant nearest the pump being the better of the two if its a case of to much nutrients LIGHTING- HID 400w Veg light (blue spectrum) then changed over to HID 400w flowering light (red spectrum) and also added 200w Compact flourescent lamp with (red spectrum) |

IMO Part of your problem is your reservoir size. You need twice as much as what you have been using. For 2 plants 38 liters is the rule of thumb. Smalll reservoirs go through drastic fluctuations extremely quickly. You can check and adjust the PH one day and have it way off the next so they require almost constant attention. (Ie...several checks a day) I think blockage by the first plant played a small part as well. Res and room temps were a small culprit and I'm sure helped with the problem. Another question...are these two plants the same strain or are they different? PS. I like the colas. I know growers who would give their left arm for colas like that.

Re: need help with using NFT
thanks i was really pleased with the colas! i was like WOOOOOO when i chopped it down i did'nt exspect to see a big yellow flower on top. the plants are of the same strain both are Syrious (not quite sure if i spelt it correct ?) i don,t have any more pics of the roots. I got a couple more just put on veg 1 is Master Kush and the other is ice cream, im goin to pay more attention to the tank level an keep the nute build up under control, i got more control of the temp now the warm weather as gone. have you had any experience with using liquid light?
