I got ICE and Grapefruit female seeds



I got a phototron 9 (51" tall 36000 lumens)

I have started building out my grow room, which is going to consist of a fully self contained closet of sorts.

In my masterbath, the toilet is seperated from the bathroom by a wall and a door. The room (inside the bathroom) is just big enough to go in, sit down and close the door. it is like 5X3. I never use it because it is so small. It has an exaust fan, and power (screw in, to the overhead lights) If you were to take the area you see in the picture below and double it, that is the size of the room. The toilet used to sit just to the left of the door.



I have removed the old beat up toilet that was due to be replaced anyway, and plugged the hole. Phototron and water feeder will sit there, with water being supplied by water pipe for old toilet.

Phototron has auto light timer and auto feeder with 10 gallon reserve tank and auto refill capabilities.

The phototron has two exaust fans for heat control and air movement built into one of the side panels so I am going to port that via 2 into 1 creativity out the bathroom exaust fan which goes out the second story roof. ( I am first floor )

Power for the unit is supposedly 12 watts peak, so plugging it into one of the lights overhead via a screw in ac adapter should be fine.. The bathroom lights are on thier own breaker at 20 amps so I shouldn't have any issues, however there is additional power nearby if needed.




The door is key deadbolt with hinges on the inside.

From the outside of the grow room while still inside of the bathroom, there should be no smell, no light, and very little to no noise. Totally stealth.. Anybody that asks gets told that behind that door is a hot water closet..

I'm undecided.. which should I go with.. 1 ICE or 1 Grapefruit? Or should I do 1 of each and turn them into inter-twined lesbian banzai love bushes..

I'm gonna say do a solo Grapefruit for two reasons a)I wanna see that Grapefruit b)Probably should give yourself a couple grows with these units before trying to expieriment with them.

With a solid delivery date scheduled for the phototron, I have gone ahead and chosen Graprefruit, just because NDW was whining.. Day 1.. Placed seeds on damp papertowel picked the two best seeds out of the bag of ten. I figure one for sure is going to pop, but if they both do, then I may have to have a closet vs phototron growoff and see which produces more.

Day 3.. Checked the seeds for their morning moistening and found this..



We have sproutage.. I have 2 seeds folded in a doubled up papercloth sitting on a dinner plate, with 3 shotglasses upside down around the edge of the plate which holds a 40 watt twizzle tube bulb about 3 inches over the top of the cloth. I have found in the past that this combination of light, dampness and slight heat (very slight) tends to make the seeds pop quicker and my plants are overall much more healthy as they mature. I'm going to let it sit in there for 1 more day and then it goes into container 1.

Very interested to see how this turns out. Years ago (like 12 years maybe) I had a friend who tried one of these to grow with. It honestly was crap. This might have been due to any number of things (my friend had no idea about growing, and he actually just pruned the leaves and smoked them until I explained how flowering worked), but most of all I would think the phototron back then he used was smaller and certainly used less light than the one EvilTim is getting.

Please be sure to keep us updated if you can. Also, it would cool to get a pic of the phototron with something (2-liter coke bottle?) inside it to give us all a gauge of it's size.

The tron is 51" tall.. To give you an idea, I stand 6' tall and the tron comes up to my nipples..

UPDATE:

The phototron has shown up. I got it on EBAY and it is just simply awesome.. Did have 1 minor glitch, a couple of the top bulbs are dead so I have ordered replacements, but the 6 lower (and longer) bulbs are fine and before the plants ever get to the height of the top bulbs, the replacements will be here. I am still waiting on the 10 gallon matching water tank and automatic watering system to arrive.. UPS tracking shows a delivery date of Friday.
