L.E.D.s

I've noticed that there are 11 L.E.D. sponsors for the site and I would like to know which one is best?

How do you even decide which one is best? Is it like comparing Hortilux to Ushio to AgroMax? Is there even a difference?

There is always a good, better, best scenario imo..... every unit can not be the best. Soooooo, which one beats all the others in yield, AND potency?

Every sponsor LED has been proven to work on par or better than HID.

What it comes down to, is what your budget will allow really..

I don't want to say one is better than another, because They're all sponsors here, and all do their part to keep this website running. By saying LED A is better than LED B just makes one sponsor look bad.

I'd check out the journals from each, and see what grower has a similar technique as you, and which lights work best for them.

And this is where I have a problem... How can a place promote cannabis awareness and not be able to give me a straight answer on lighting or promote Co2 bags which we all know are a gimmick. Commercialism isn't always a good thing imo, and for that reason I must bid you folks adieu.

I've got a different opinion on it; sponsors should respond to criticism, up their game and improve their product. the problem exists right now because some units are clearly better than others, but everyone is to scared to say anything about sponsors in case they get banned.

it is ridiculous that people have to switch off their signatures if posting in a sponsored thread by other manufacturers when we're all doing the same thing - HID never had this problem because there was nothing between them.

so long as a perceived gulf exists between LED units, there will be this ridiculous segregation and in-fighting :peace:

I agree 100%

Promoting Cannabis awareness isn't related at all, to the answer you asked for.

You're basically asking someone to tell you that even though all 11 LED sponsors are likely paying the same for advertising or whatever the arrangement is, you want me to say that 1 manufacturer is the best. Which leaves what is UNSAID to ring louder. And that is that the other manufacturers build shit poroducts.

That's what you're asking us to do.

There is NO BEST among the manufacturers. They all have different levels of quality, power use, output, and cost.

This is the straight answer: What's best for you, isn't what's best to another guy. All the LEDs have been proven to work, so obviously they're ALL the best to someone.

I don't want to come off sounding like an asshole... But come on man, you're putting people in a tough spot with that question. Answering it means we potentially lose sponsors, which keep this site going.

You asked specifically which lights beat the others in yield and potency... I don't think anyone has that data.

To answer that, clones would need to be tested, under each light, at varying heights, blahblahblah.

I don't think anyone has done that kind of testing. So there's no answer for your question.

But I'm sure you'll have a problem with this answer too....

So, adios.

You don't see a Pepsi machine in Mc Donalds do you? Just like you don't see a Coke machine in an Arby's. How can you not expect conflicting issues with 11 different LED companies all being sponsors of the same site.

So why not do your own research? You have the LED websites accessible to you here: Sponsors : 420 MAGAZINE ®

Compare the lights on your own, deciding based on what features/attributes/specs/costs are most important to you, and make your decision based on what will work BEST for you. If someone doesn't have information available that you're looking for, you have their contact info, so you can contact them and request that information.

Like I said.. answering that question makes one sponsor look worse than another, and I'm sure 420 Magazine values every single sponsor equally. So I won't answer it.

Doing your own research would have saved this entire thread of bickering over this shit, and then you getting butthurt and rage quitting.

At least I wasn't insulting about it.

So glad 420 Mag values it's sponsors more than its members. Remember, without us you don't have squat.

I said nothing directly insulting. "Butthurt" means getting upset. Had you not been upset, you wouldn't have ragequit. At least look at things from the point I'm trying to make..

Or put yourself directly in 420 Magazine's position. Imagine you have multiple sponsors, all selling the same product.

Now say which one of those sponsors is BEST, and in the same breath, tell the other 10 their product just doesn't measure up.

If I was directly in 420Mags shoes I never would have taken on 11 different L.E.D. companies from the get go.If they really want to be sponsors then they should earn it not buy it.....prove to the customer you have the better product. Competition is what gives us (the customer, your members) the better product not more sponsors. If you can't compete then get out the kitchen, plain and simple.

If a product is clearly superior I would have no problem telling the others to scram because I would want nothing but the best for my business. And, if you have the best product it will pretty much sell itself. I feel I should add, I run my own business.

From what I can discern I would say PlatinumL.E.D. is top of the line. I was able to figure this out on my own...but... I had to sift through tons of other "lesser" L.E.D. manufacturers lies and or over priced lights to come to this conclusion. Most new growers ime will latch on to the first light they come across weather it is CFL,L.E.D., or whatever.....do ya really want them seeing 4 different L.E.D. adds from 4 different manufacturers the very first time they come on this site? It can be confusing for a new grower.

The thing about asking this question is, no matter what anyone says like "get this light or this light" there will be a bunch of people come in behind and say no, that light is not as good as this light, and it will go on and on and on and on. Everyone has differing opinions about what light is best or works the best for them. Its really a matter of what your budget is and how much you wanna spend. There are some really expensive lights out there, and I've seen the grows they do via this website and on Youtube. I honestly dont see any huge differences. There are some people who will argue that LED lights dont do as well as HPS lights. I've never done an HPS grow, and honestly I dont have much interest in doing one. Its all really down to a matter of research, and what will work best for you and your budget. Like someone else said in a previous post, this is like the Ford or Chevy question. I like the Mars-Hydro aka TopLED lights because they grow my plants very well, and the prices are within my budget. I'd love to be able to try some of the really expensive ones and see how much better or the same they do, but alas the bottom line is I dont have $1000 to spend on a light, when there are comparable ones for 1/5 that price, and does it really grow that much better? Who knows. There have been side by side comparisons on Youtube but I have to be honest, I dont see much of a difference thats worth an extra $800. I'd rather put that extra money into a good strain of seeds, and buying other things that will help out my grow. I see a lot of these websites that sell LED lights, and they go on and on about how great their light is etc etc, and then I go to their pages where the prices are listed, and I almost fall backwards in my chair! Then I search and search for grows that are done using their lights. I look at the ones done using their lights and compare them to the ones using the cheaper lights, and I dont see that big of a difference, and sometimes the grows using cheaper lights turn out better in the end.

The best thing for you to do is go thru the grow journals here and see what people are using and how their grow comes out in the end. Thats how I learned what people are using, and what light would be "best for me" to use and buy.

I can respect your perspective. However, keep in mind that there are and will be a ton of new, middle aged growers coming to the market. With legalization on the horizon there are more and more middle aged, established adults who can afford a better product from the get go.

To be honest I wouldn't get rid of all 11 L.E.D sponsors. I would keep the top 3-4 products. Then I would find other sponsors.

None of this matters though, because I can't change anything here and I never expected to. I was really excited when I first came here. Then I started seeing nothing but the dollar signs in every add that was for the same product through a different manufacturer. Also,my intent was never to insult anyone here. There is a ton of great info and people here! The commercialism is what's making me leave, nothing more.

Peace and Headys!:) R.C.

I know where you're coming from brother.. but don't forget you also have people on lower incomes or fixed incomes that need a good grow light at a lower price, and will sacrifice the higher PAR to get a light in their budget.

Like me. I didn't have a lot to spend on a light, but I needed to get out of the CFL grows. So I went with a lower cost LED.
So if 420 were to keep only the top 3-4 products, I might not be here today, or maybe not as much.

It's not so much commercialism for me... I was trying to answer out of respect for all the sponsors, and was hoping to help you out in the process a little, even if it wasn't an exact model name being given in my post.

And if you've found your answer, and found the light you plan to buy, we have no reason to continue any sort of arguments or debates, and there's certainly no reason for you to leave.

We can all smoke one together, and agree that as individuals, we'll always see some things differently. And that's not a bad thing, As it makes the world more interesting.

My .02 - but who cares lol

420 mag should be able to choose what they want to say. They own the site they can do what they want. But as a member, and like stated before this site would not be obtaining sponsors without members traffic, we should be able to recommend the products we want and have spent money on and like regardless of the sponsors. unfortunately there will be a few that would ruin it for everyone and be going overboard. This would in return force more LED companies to prove their results or claims etc - such a debatable topic - I guess it depends on what side of the fence you are on.

This is for the most part why i don't ask for recommendations on products here much. I have bought 2 sponsored items and i feel both were oversold - they work and are great don't get me wrong, but over sold none the less..... Its a give and take as you could not find better grow information any where in the world. I love you :420: I just product research myself mostly - Or VIA 420 mags awesome journals where real results are shown.

First, if you want to see a few different LEDs in use, look for Icemuds grow journals. I have spent hours the last few days RESEARCHING various LEDs, as I want to switch over. Secondly, as a middle aged grower, I certainly don't have more money to spend than a 20 something with no kids or mortgage! That said, I am pretty sure I'm going to go with the Mars II 80x5 watts for each of my 400 watt hps systems and 2 of same to replace my thousand watt. Are these the absolute best LEDs? I don't know. I do know, based on lots of research, that they are comparable to some that cost way more. I also know that Icemud's grow with them was impressive to me. It also allowed me to SEE and not just read.
Like others have said, different grow styles can effect what is best for YOU! One thing I've learned well is there are many ways to successfully grow this wonderful plant! There is no magic formula! IF ONLY!

Check out COFinest grows too. This guy really knows how to blow it out big and has some amazing grows, and hes uses different types of lights too. I've seen all his videos on Youtube, his and Icemuds and some other ones as well.

interesting reading too bad you did not come up to what makes a good lamp :)
there are people like me from the old school who can read for hours and still not understand what separates a good lamp against the best.

I have probably smoked too much in my life hehe :)

in my time there were not 1,000 different lamps.

if we formulate the question like this then

Which lamps replace HPS 600w and 1000w HPS

has to be someone who can explain which lights have the best angle and light and gives the best results.
