What is everyone using for light/fan timers? I have some GE Heavy-Duty digital timers that are rated at 15amp, 1000 watts Tunsten, 1/4 hp. What exactly does the 1000 watt Tungsten rating mean. The amps I understand. Debating whether or not to use these or look for something with a higher rating. My plan was to have 2 600 watt HPS on one timer, 2 432 T5's on another timer, and fans on a third.

i think if you used both hps on the same timer its too much. i think where i am i have to use two different elect. outlets because each circuit can only handle 1500 watts and I'm using to 1000watters plus fans etc. so besides the timer keep the outlet in mind and dont run too much shit off of one circuit.

Stoob,
I have a dedicated 30 amp circuit for my grow area. Nothing else runs on it that is not associated with the grow. My outlet box has 20 amp outlets so I should be plenty covered in that department. I just don't want my timer to be a weak link. |

I went with a dedicated 100A box for my room. Dual Intermatic commercial times for the lights.

I returned the 3 GE timers and picked up 4 Intermatic 15 amp 1800 watt units. I will put each 600 watt HPS and it's own timer, the 2 432 watt T5's will be on another, and the last will be for fans. Should be plenty safe now.
