Pesky neighbour...need to smell proof!!!
Help!
I have moved into a basement suite and wish I could grow! I think I may be able to get away with it as long as I make a room in a room...with a grow box in the room. I will have to use poly and that pink styrophome to make the room, and the box in the room. I have purchased a 430 watt sun argo ballast and bulb, an air cooled hood, a 260 CFM hurricane fan and a 300 CFM Phat farm carbon filter. I have already made a small box for veg that works quite well with just an ionizer treating the out take air. What is your opinion of this? It should work however I split the hydro with the lady upstairs and I am worried she will notice the spike in electricity. I live in Vancouver BC and well, it is quite an expensive city to live, I just can not afford a house of my own just yet. Please leave me your opinion as I really enjoy growing! And...I have some killer strains to try! Thanks! |

Re: Pesky neighbour...need to smell proof!!!
I should have added the fact that growing with just a 400 watt light is a joke, however I am doing this to sex all the seedlings I have.
I spent some good cash on seeds for strains to go outdoors this year...I say go big or go home! |

You seem to have everything covered nicely, but it worries me about the electricity spike and sharing the hydro bill with a neighbour. Good luck. I hope you start a journal.

Maybe you'd be a good candidate to try LEDs. Otherwise I'd suggest getting a dehumidifier but don't actually use it but blame the electricity spike on it. After all it's a basement and you are sensitive to mold, right? wink wink.

She'll notice. It will be a sudden spike that will jump about $40.00 to $50.00 bucks a month. I don't know about canada laws but here in the USA she also takes a chance of losing everything she owns if "you" get caught. Whether she knew about the grow or not. I never recommend others try to grow without the owners of the place knowing about it.

i think you should buy a couple of electrical devices like a mini fridge a heater etc.
im trying to get ahold of some good strains bc the last ones i got where bubble berry but the grower didnt tell me that the mom was also the dad so unless i can find a way to keep them female i might as well throw them out |

Re: Pesky neighbour...need to smell proof!!!
Definately LED's top save juice... Until my room is fired up fulltime I have most of the lights on in my house to bring my bill up, also firing the pool pumps and jacuzzi a little more than usual. I also have the advantage of having just moved here so my power consumption history is being wrtitten as we speak.
When the room is on I woll roll back my light usage and repalce all my incadecents with power saver bulbs, re-instate the pool pump timer as well as the jacuzzi timer. My last alternative to a pesky neighbor is a hand held, electric powered airsoft machine gun...One of the cute ones! They only do 150 FPS, shoot bout 400 rounds per minute and leave sweet little welts that go away in a few hours all over thier body. I personally know they sting (yes we have had firefights in the yard on more than one occasion) and the blue jay who used to wake me up every AM is now searching his AM snacks elsehwhere.... |

Re: Pesky neighbour...need to smell proof!!!
Hey all!
Originally I was living in a basement suite with a very annoying neighbour so I chose to move somewhere I thought I could do a crop. It would have worked if I could have kept the temperatures down...I hit 40 celcius many times and, well...just did not like the person I was growing with...he needs to straighten his life out a bit more before committing to something like this. I will be moving 1 last time, and this will be the journal I should have started with!! Is anyone doing a LED grow at the moment? I have read about them...but never saw them in action... |
