Re: Mite-rid. FOR THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF TWO SPOTTED AND RED SPIDER MITE

Mite-rid is the best product I have ever used to control mites. I hate smoking poo from mites, so I am very particular about mite control.

Re: Mite-rid. FOR THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF TWO SPOTTED AND RED SPIDER MITE

Microbiol

Microbial is used to stimulate a plant's inbuilt immune system, thus improving overall plant health and increased resistance to attacks from pests and diseases.

With soil based horticulutre many of the bacteria present are beneficial to plants in terms of breaking down organic matter and enabling the mineral elements contained within to be readily absorbed by the plant. In a hydroponic environment these beneficial bacteria are not present, therefore the potential for problem airborne or soil borne micro-organisms attacking hydroponic crops is very high.

Even with a good preventative maintenance program in place, problems can still occur such as algal blooms, pythium outbreaks, mould and mildew attacks. These can occur because of pH shifts, lack of oxygen, poor environment control and imported organic materials transferred by growers from other sites. Indoor hydroponic environments are especially at risk to such pathogens, and the grower must effectively become mother nature by instigating an effective preventative maintenance programme.

Microbial is a wide-ranging aqueous solution derived in part from naturally occurring plant extracts. Microbial is non toxic to humans, animals and plants and is totally biodegradable and environmentally friendly.

Microbial acts as a micro-cleanser and plant rootzone conditioner, which cleans and rejuvenates plants. This allows the plant to naturally withstand attacks from common pests and biological contaminants like bacteria, fungi, algae and viruses.

Before Microbial the only method of treating the above problems was by using heavy chemical sanitisers, fungicides and pesticides which in some cases do more harm than good, especially to crops that will eventually be consumed by humans.

The horticultural industry as a whole will benefit by the use of Microbial in their respective growing environments because the use of pesticides, fungicides and other harmful chemicals can be reduced, if not totally eliminated, in turn reducing grower overheads and also benefiting the environment we live in.

Microbial is becoming the preferred method of overcoming plant related problems, and should be adopted by all growers in the horticultural industry as an integral part of the grower's overall preventative maintenance programme.

Re: Mite-rid. FOR THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF TWO SPOTTED AND RED SPIDER MITE

I'm surprised you guys are willing to spray pesticides on your plants without knowing what the active ingredients are. This stuff requires a gas mask to apply that's not a good sign. There are non toxic organic treatments that can do the job ie..

Neem Oil made from vegetable oil, safe for human consumption as used in some medicines. Mix 1oz to 1gallon of water and apply to entire plants, weaken mix for seedlings.

Insecticidal Soap Does not contain insecticide, it's just 1T of natural soap mixed with a quart of water, the soap actually dissolves the mites little body in a horrible way. Use a non scented plain coloured soap or make it from plain soap flakes and water

Water/Alcohol Mix 50% Alcohol 50% water and spray it over the entire plant, Alcohol can be Ethanol (vodka) or Isopropyl (rubbing alcohol) don't use Methylated spirits on buds as it contains pyridine a foul tasting drinking deterrent

Mite-rid is a Neem oil extract, so it is a safe organic systemic. I am very careful re it's application, and a mask is only common sense.

Tried all those. What a joke they were at killing mites. The mites actually used the insecticidal soap to clean up with and the water/alcohol to shower off the soap.lol I could hear them singing in the shower.
If one wants a great one time application to kill mites I recommend mite rid. I've been using it for over 4 years now with great results and no harmful ingredients. Just follow the directions.

PS. I don't use a mask to spray with. I just hold my breath really long.

Neem Oil and Insecticidal Soap are recommended by Smoking ***** in his growing problems sticky as well as Pepper Spray and Tobacco Juice, he claims they work well

Cool! I guess? Maybe you should use those then! Not sure why you felt the need to bring that up actually. This thread is a bout mite rid not home made remedies.
You know none of us are pushing this on you or making you use it. We are telling you all about a product that we have tried, liked and gotten great results from. if you feel the need to do the same then please start a new thread and do so. But this is about mite-rid right now.
Besides, I'm using mite rid and loving the results. One application at half strength wiped out a pretty heavy infestation. It's neem based and I've been using it for years without any bad results

Re: Mite-rid. FOR THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF TWO SPOTTED AND RED SPIDER MITE

Soooo.... I got my Mite-Rid, and used it almost 4 weeks ago. I'd have to say it kicks fucking spider mite ass! No new activity in the room at all. WITH ALL OTHER TREATMENTS ACTIVITY RETURNED WITHIN 2 WEEKS.

Unfortunately due to previous rough treatment of the plants, in effort to rid m self of said mites, I was infested with mold.

Treatments tried on

XXX OG, Afgooey, Cinderella 99, Afgani, in ebb and flow.

It should be noted that we are growing S.O.G. in a small closet (24" X 60"), so plants are in a close proximity to each other (obviously).

There was a control done off site (AFGOOEY) where the spider mites were left alone, with no effort made to control them.

The results of the control were not pretty. Spiders mites I think breed bad luck... Timer malfunctioned and lights went out for 2 days. Plants were unable to recover... and while the continues to try and finish... pretty much ceased developing at all, and died.

The mites were crazy in there... the plants (2 in a 24" x 24" space) were completly covered in webs... the webs and gone onto the walls... I swear they had a better rapid transit system than we got in my city... It gives me nightmares.....

Treatments tried;

Neem Oil ... Repeated applications following directions on the bottle (apply every 5 to 7 days).

Alcohol and water ... Repeated applications following neem oil directions.

Washed room with alcohol and water, and later with bleach.

Mites always returned with in the 2 weeks.

Got the mite rid... hosed the plants once. It has a slightly spicy smell ... kinda like fresh ginger.. (not the sweet stuff.. the asian stuff). My mother says it smells better than the neem oil.

Took the remaining solution and wiped the walls and equipment.

I also Installed a bleach barrier...

Put down a plastic runner (carpet protector.. hard plastic laid out to protect carpet in high traffic area's) just in side the room in front of the door. Then took and old towel no one cared about and soaked it in bleach and water, and placed it on the plastic in front of the door. House rules... wipe your feet! The bleach kills anything on your shoes, and close proximity to the vapors helps reduce infestation on your clothes (great if you've been in the back yard or have visitors). But as a diluted solution, it is not strong enough to affect the room/plants.

No mites yet!!!

Unfortunately I think the continued exposure to moisture was not cool for the girls heavy with bud. And I got mold... wiped nearly the whole harvest. And I'm now real worried about the rest of the room. Also continued spraying was a horrible way to treat my plants and I have noticed thats plants exposed to this spraying have been severely stunted.

I'm on a continuous harvest and can see a small dry spell in my near future.

In short this shit works. And tasting a quick dried sample from what I was able to save, has not affected flavor, smell, or smokeability. I have noticed no odd effects after smoking. Harvest occurred 2 weeks after spraying. Plants were fed one week of their normal diet, then flushed for one week with only balanced R/O water.

In short it works... and works well.

Why abuse your plants with continuous applications, when you can do it once, and your plants can go back to being happy and healthy.

Great post. I can sympathize with you on that dry spell. Been going through it myself lately.
Couldn't agree with your post more. Why screw around and hope you kill the mites when you could use mite rid and "know" you got the suckers!

Even in outdoor applications?
We have reds around here and this year being Hot and Dry, they are everywhere.

Re: Mite-rid. FOR THE EFFECTIVE TREATMENT OF TWO SPOTTED AND RED SPIDER MITE

it is absorbed by the plant and stays in the system for 7 days. Longer than the life cycle of the mites.

Kills on contact, and then hangs around and kills what hatches from eggs that have been laid.
