A Red Shift LED Question

What would happen if you gave 24/0 of LED red shift (RBGw) to a plant in flower cycle, while it still had a normal 12/12 pattern for the bank of 5500 & 2700 CFLs?

Can you give a plant pure red shift LED and alternate the rest of the light pattern to boost growth? Or did I misunderstand (not the first time) the light shift issues.

Any 420 thoughts out there?

Might be misunderstanding, but are you asking if you can give broad spectrum light for 12 hours, and then only provide select wavelengths during the dark hours to grow the plant without actually waking it up, so to speak?

That answer is most likely no. Plants wake up most efficiently from deep & far red light (600-800nm), but blue also triggers that phytochrome pigment that wakes it up, and I know a significant amount of plants "wake up" without those wavelengths. It's possible that pure green light could be bright without waking it up, but that's going to cause some funny styles of growth. So trying to provide enough light to grow it while dodging the light spectra that wake the plant up will most likely not drive the type of growth you want (probably very stretched with other side effects).
