How Hemp saved my life

Twelve years back my life was going perfectly normal,a perfect job,a perfect
girlfriend,a perfect hookup of nugs,when out of the blue I got into a mad car
wreck which crippled me.In just half a second my life was changed in a way
I just cant decribe.Well I couldnt work any more so I had no choice but to aply for Social Security,I had to wait for the approval which ended up taking
two and a half years.In that time I was given town aid wich came to exactly
20 bucks over what my rent was.I dont care where you live your not going to
get far on 20bucks for the whole month.I tryed looking for a job despite the
condition I was in,but no place would hire me because I was on crutches and
that was too much of an insurance wrisk for them.So for a while I was broke
and hungry,but then out of the blue I happened to be in a fabric store with my girlfriend who was looking for some fabric for a tapestry for our place and
when I was standing in line I picked up a free booklet showing how to tie a
square to make simple jewerly.I showed it to my girlfriend and she said it would be cool if I made her a hemp necklace.So we went to the local head
shop and got a spool of hemp and some beads.I went home and imeadeatly
started working on it.I finished it and it came out pretty good.But from that
point on I couldnt put the shit down.I started selling all kinds of hemp jewerly
at shows and made pretty good money at it.I got so into it because it was
from the plant I already loved.Over the years Ive made all sorts of things from
hemp,from gitar straps to belts to rings to necklaces bracelets,anklets you
name it.The best part of all this were the people that I meet when I was selling all the shit because they also loved the same plant.So all in all hemp
has definitly affected my life in a possitive way.Since this came from a personal experience there is no source for this fact,so sorry *****.

I didnt get into just how much hemp affected my life.When I was making the
hemp jewery I attended the Million Marijuana March in 99,and also in 00. I also
went to all the JONES fests every year and also a weekend campout with Max
Creek.At all of these festiviles they all were for the legalization of MJ,they told
all the facts and reasons for medical MJ,they all had pamphlets which I still have.I could sit here all nite quoteing all the facts and quotes,but this is more about me and how one plant affected someone so much.

Thanks,you wouldnt believe how long that took.I used 36 strands knotted side
by side,there were natural colored hemp on the outsides and black hemp on
the inside.It had blue glass beads throughout and and these beads from India
made of bone in the middle of the strap.Because of how long it was it took up
six spools of hemp and took at least 125 hours or even more.The guy gave me
300 bucks for it and I needed the money.Ive done a couple of intricate choackers and other things that also took forever,and I never know what to
charge.If I was paid by the hour it would be less than a penny.

Some more cool shit is that alot of the people that bought necklaces from me
at shows would hunt me down years latter at other shows and ask me if I repair or resize it for them.And I would,but what was so cool was that they
wanted them to last longer because they liked what I had made.Thats what
kept me making more and more complicated shit.I loved the compliments and
loved seeing my shit on all my friends,it was a constant reminder to keep going.

Ok,this is pretty theraputic,and just downrite cool to shoot the shit with other
stoners.When Iwas doing those necklaces I could go to any show I wanted without a penny in my pocket,just hang outside and sell acouple of necklaces
to get the money for the ticket,plus it was legal.One of the shows I did that
at was Bustah Rhymes opening for George Clinton,what a fuckin great show.
If I had never started this I would of missed out on so much incredible shit
because I never would have had the money to get into any of the shows or
Festiviles that I got to go to.And there Id meet more cool heads that sold the
handblown beads I love to use in my shit.To this day I still wear as much hemp as I can and even have a hemp jean jacket that I still wear.

Some of the cooler shit made out of hemp beside the gitar strap were
belts,rings with flat round beads that would rest on the finger,keychains,
smilies(those chains that go from a walet to wereever),dreamcatchers,
cat and dog collars,leashes,eyeglass chains,and of corse chockers,bracelets
anklets,and necklaces and o yea sleeping bag ties.

I had a friend who wove hemp belts. One time he made me a beaded hemp belt with a tanned kangaroo scrotum money pouch. I think I still have it somewheres.
