ND: Hemp Growers Host Field Tour

The public is invited to tour industrial hemp fields planted as part of the state's pilot program.

The tour will be from 9 to 11 a.m. Wednesday starting at 8438 59th St. S.E., Adrian.

Jamie Edwards and his father, Lyle Edwards, a pair of pilot hemp producers in the program, each planted 15 acres of a variety of hemp called Canda that was sourced by the North Dakota Department of Agriculture from Canada. Attendees will have a chance to look at the fields and learn more about the production of industrial hemp.

Speakers will include:

- Jeff Kostuik, director of operations for central Canada, U.S. and international with Hemp Genetics International

- Keith Watson, agronomist and plant breeder with Parkland Industrial Hemp Growers

Directions to the Edwards farm are as follows:

- From Jamestown - 25 miles south on Highway 281, turn east at the Nortonville corner and go 2.5 miles

- From Edgeley - 15 miles north on Highway 281, turn east at the Nortonville corner and go 2.5 miles
