I-R block insulation works very well its more refletive then mylar and protects you from prying infared detectors
BUT YOU HAVE TO WATCH YOUR HEAT AS IT WILL JUMP ALOT WHEN USING THE I-R BLOCK I GOT A 25X4 FT ROLL FOR 50.00

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

sry to get off track there,if you have to choose between emergency blankets or white paint go w/paint, oh i remember what i used my first grow was white computer paper tape it together top to bottom for like 5 sheets then tape it to the walls works very well and is cheap and easy to use.heres a pic for proof that it works.

these plants came out just fine using paper for the walls

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

Terrific post. I've seen a lot of aluminum foil walls.

I'm thinking tiny grow box, so I'm planning on white paint or even just paper. This seems like a pretty valuable thread!

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

You can order a 50 ft section of mylar for about $35 online. If you want great reflectivity just spend the extra few bucks. Chances are you'll have extra as well, so breaking it isn't much of a worry.

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

I have some flat white Rustoleum, would that be any more or less resistant to mildew than regular paint? Would a fungicide still be recommended with it?

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

Now what about that flat white paint. I am using a full size bedroom for about six plants. That is pretty cheap as the room is 7x7. Is that going to be a good reflective surface? or is it only so so.

Re: What Reflective Materials can I use for my Grow Room?

Flat white paint:
Self explanatory; a great option for large grow rooms or for people who are interested in a low maintenance wall. Flat white paint has the ability to reflect between 75-85% of the light, and does not create hotspots. Adding a fungicide is recommended when painting.
